Assalamalikum girlies...

so its been a very long time since Ive written anything in here and for that I apologise. Insha'allah when my life is back to its normal pace I will be here writing again, complaining my life is boring alhamdulillah. Things have been busy, what with my family visiting, Im been catching up on some reading and im in the middle of 2 stitching orders for friends. Insha'allah they will be finished soon because Im getting a little tired of the whole concept now, I havent updated my website in a long time and I think it will be longer before I do. I realised that it was stressful with just a few things to have to finish, let alone more... I dont know how I would cope. So Im leaving it there for people to check out, and if Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) wants me to stitch more, Im sure he will guide the people to my site. Im currently reading 'Rethinking muslim women and the veil' with my friend Laylah... we are both reading it separately and commenting when we chat... and look, this link actually takes you to an e-book gutted!!! Im on chapter 5, so fairly close to the end and so far its been an interesting read masha'allah. So if you have the time, print it off or read it on the net, its worth the read.

What else have I been up to? well Im currently organising a little trip to montreal with Laylah (as per my blast) to visit Anisah. Ive known Anisah now for around 31/2yrs now and Ive never met her.. I cant even remember how we met, I think it was through an Islamic forum, we have spoke on the phone and chat over the webcam (especially to show off current islamic buys) So I think its about time we got together. Ive never really been to Montreal, passed through it on way to Quebec city so Im really looking forward to it. We are also planning to spend a day in Quebec city too insha'allah, so it will be nice to check it out again especially with different people. So we leave tomorrow insha'allah after a little shopping spree in Mississauga, I have to buy a hijab for an outfit for a friends wedding on july 8th so thats my next weekend booked too.. ho hum, the life of Ammena.. alhamdulillah

i spoke to my other half today too, hes got himself a landline in his flat so it was good to check on him and hear that he is ok alhamdulillah. Ive also just been accepted for a new position in work too, currently im QA technician but with this new position I will be QA/Range technician. Yep you got it, finally Ill be working in ballistics (the reason why I took this job in the first place) which will insha'allah help to boost my cv (resume) when im looking for a new job in UK.

Anyways, thats it for now... all the news I have.. insha'lalah when I get back Ill be posting loads of pics from montreal, so get ready girls. Fi amenallah, your sister in Islam, Ammena

My day

Assalamalikum girls,

so today was jummah... but before that I went to get my legs lasered.. this was my second go and already Im taking the strongest current there is for my legs so she says we will have to stay at that level which wasnt too bad alhamdulillah. I got to read more of my book (the Katherine Bullock book that I can never remember the name of) I was a little late for my appointment and she was supposed to be doing my underarms again cause she did it a month early last time.. so because I was late I had to rebook for tomorrow to get them done. I can notice a big difference already in my underarms alhamdulillah. So looking forward to seeing what they grow back like after this one insha'allah.

Once that was over I did a little shopping and eventually was time for jummah. So I got there a little late, prayed sunnah and sat down for a little read of my book, Im half way through chapter 3 now laylah I notice people praying and Im always bad for staring at their hijabs, whether its the style, the colour or whatever. So I notice a girl sat near the back who is talking to another sister in a really nice floor length khimar with sleeves (from Dubai, I asked her) the girl looked really interested in what she was saying and I noticed she kept pulling the scarf up over her hair as it slipped down. She was also wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up.. now I didnt judge alhamdulillah but she was 'white' looking. So I decided to try to talk to her.... so we all prayed and I finally went up to her. I asked her 'excuse me, please dont take offence but are you a new muslim' she told me no... so I assumed she was a born muslim, but no.. she wasnt a muslim.. she is doing a degree in religious studies as is doing some sort of paper. So I passed on my email and she mentioned going for a coffee or something, so Im really excited, she has to make a few visits to the masjid, shes been twice now.. but she says she likes it and wants to come as often as she can. So insha'allah she will get back in touch with me and we can chat.. its soo exciting.

Well thats it from me for now.. I should probably go and do some work Fi amenallah

My news

Assalamalikum everyone, so today I woke up early for my hospital appointment.. its been 2 months since my last one and one month since receiving my new glove. I got there just before my time and saw the glove lady, she asked to see my scar and told me it still needs pressure, and there was me thinking my doctor would tell me its fine. Although I thought he might have told me that, I didnt want it to be finished with, because I didnt think it was finished (the scar I mean) and to be honest Im really self conscious about it. My mum doesnt help from everytime I take my glove off she tells me to hurry up and get it covered Allahu alim.

Anyways, he doesnt think its ready to come out of the glove, alhamdulillah.. and he asked if I have been told about some steroid injection, well... ahem.. you are my dr, did you tell me about it?? So then he was like, do you want it? so i ask the usual needle phobic questions, how big is it? will it hurt? what does it do? is it worth doing? answers: no, a little, releases the scar matrix underneath the skin to flatten the scar, yes. So I eventually agreed, after reminding him how I was with the drip needle the nurse nearly poked through my hand when I was supposed to get the graft. So he did it... twice, it bled a little and now its covered again... he said I will definately see a big improvement next time I go back, erm... why didnt you do it sooner then?? lol.. he said he could see a big improvement and that the mobility in my web space is the image of my good hand alhamdulillah... so thats my hand news.

On another topic... I booked my flights for going home this year Insha'allah I fly October 17th and fly back to Canada November 4th... so just over 2 weeks.. which gives me 2 and a bit weekends which is good.. insha'allah Ill get to see at least 1 match. Im also planning a few days in Morocco to visit a friend from uni and days down south. Insha'allah apart from this i wont be doing as much travelling as last time. I want to spend some time with my grandparents insha'allah.

Also, I found out yesterday that Ive been accepted for a new position in work. It basically what I do now, but in addition I will be working on the ballistics range too and its 12 hours shifts.. I only end up working 15 days out of a month, including 2 weekends.. but its more money and its what I want to do. It wont be for ages yet.. I was worried it would mess up my montreal plans, but he reckons a few months as I have to train someone to take over my afternoon shift.. oh yeh, cause I will be working 7am till 7pm...

Ok, thats it for now... sorry ive been soo quiet, just trying to catch up on things now my family have left canada. Insha'allah Ill have more to write soon. Tomorrow Im meeting a facebook friend at jummah in my masjid, so looking forward to that, oh and Im also going for my 2nd treatment of laser to my legs cant wait till thats all over and im hair free (well sort of) Take care peeps... Fi amenallah
