Bamboo

Salam girls, so the pic is purely for one muslimah... i had to chop it down when i left my old apartment cause with being in the basement it didnt really see the light so was all yellow and stuff... however, I still think its bigger now than when i first got it and Im pleased with it.. I wonder if I can chop off a bit to make another main piece, although it wont be as thick as the other pieces.

So on another note, I finished the work in my bedroom last nite, alhamdulillah... then i sent pictures of my place and my hand to all my peeps in UK and some here too.. now i have to choose my next room to finish, and im thinking its either the bathroom or the kitchen. Decisions decisions.

Ive decided not to go to the xmas dinner, i know i would feel too uncomfortable there with the drinking and dancing (please, no lectures girls.. Im NOT going) and the fact that i would turn up late and leave early to remove myself from as much of this, although i know how i deal with pressure (lets just say not very well) so thats all over now. The guy at work, Dawoud, he told me he can ask his wife to help me with my arabic of a weekend insha'allah so im looking forward to starting that insha'allah. He told me they would take me on a little tour of their area (Brantford) show me his masjid (which is full to the brim of women masha'allah and the committee is mainly women) and to the local shops and stuff... so insha'allah once i have my flat sorted i can look into this. Also he told me that the masjid i started going to, the big one attached to the school, has classes and stuff.. so insha'allah one day i will see this starting. I was also introduced to another brother at work Aiyub, who lives in my city (dont worry girls, hes old too) and he told me a few places for halal shops. U see, it isnt the meat that i want cause im veggie... its just the atmosphere if u catch my drift. I dont think i wrote it here... but the masjid i got kicked out of the other week... well i found out that one of the guys at my work, he is the president

Anyways, id best get dressed for work... bought some new saftey shoes yesterday (free from work) from marks work warehouse... they are brown and are shoes, my other safety shoes are dr marten boots and are killing my legs (esp jammy knee) cause they are soo heavy and im wearing them for 9 hours a day. roll on proper shifts of 8hrs a day insha'allah soon.

We;;, Fi amenallah... comment all u like girls, u know i love to hear from u.

My weekend

Assalamalikum girls,
so this weekend was pretty cool, yesterday i drove back to my old place to pick up some bits i had left behind and the mail, i received a cheque from WSIB for $800 for loss of earnings when i was off with my hand. Then stopped in at Nadias, we prayed dhuhr and chatted for abit, it was good to talk to someone.. dont really have anyone to talk to here! :( then i potted off to Food basics & price chopper (both of which i have now found in Cambridge) then i drove back to mine via IKEA. Spent over $400 in there on 2 main items, a chest of drawers ($300) and a bedside table ($75) my mum is being me the drawers so thats ok. Then i set off back to my place with the intention of setting everything up. Well I got the bedside table almost done, until i realised that my hand wasnt coping well with screwing things into place with a knife, so i added a screwdriver to my list for the next day. I said salams to a friend online and headed to bed at around 930 but didnt actually get to sleep til about 11pm... was pottering as usual ;p

Today, sunday, i woke up and went to canadian tire for the screwdriver, i was also going to buy some glass mixing bowls and i saw a microwave stand in the magazine, cause i have very little work surface... but in the end i came away with an alarm clock, and 2 single screwdrivers that actually didnt end up working... so i came back, and then it was nearly time to set out to the islamic centre of cambridge. I wanted to go for dhuhr to see if there was anybody there, namely some sisters... alas the sisters area was shut and there was noone around!! Saddens me, but i dont know whether i have the times all wrong. So i prayed anyway then went to home depot (B&Q) for a cordless screwdriver.. alhamdulillah its working perfectly. Ive got my bedside table finished and now im 1/4 way through the chest of drawers... the only drawback, one of the wooden pieces snapped, it wasnt my fault i picked it up and there was a knot in the wood causing a weak spot which i didnt know of.. which in turn caused it to snap :( oh well... ill let ya all know how it turns out.

Insha'allah when im finished today ill find my camera cord and upload some pics of my new place for you all to see. Fi amenallah girls.

My day...

.... was really busy alhamdulillah, and i fasted today too... trying to make up from my Ramadan fasts, only 8 more to go Image i havent been able to do them cause of the hand issue, is that a lame excuse? Allah (swt) knows my intentions, thats all that matters. I also had to deal with a massive issue on my forum today in which i had to ban someone, wont go into details but some of the things she said really hurt and i didnt like her 'tone' a few girls were worried too... so that was it, masha'allah dee helped me through it and gave me the push i needed. JazakAllah Khair sis.

Well, Ive just been to Rogers to sort out my phone, cable & internet so insha'allah dec 14th i should have them all set up. Cant wait... i dont really need the cable for anything other than background noise, oh and CSI Image so now im home and im going to shower and stick some chips in the over insha'allah. Catch u ladies soon. Fi amenallah

The guest room isnt that important just yet heehee... got no visitors yet. Subhanallah, I feel soo grown up ;p now, with my own place.. insha'allah once i sort out my stuff and find my camera ill show u all some pics. Fi amenallah

My day

Salam girls... ok so my week isnt going too good. In work, its going well... ive been having fun and learning lots alhamdulillah. Outside of work is another issue.. I have a big french exam on saturday and i just cant find the time to revise cause Im packing to move to my new apartment. Now my stepdad is bringing some stuff to my apartment tomorrow afternoon, so Ill come out of work to get the keys and everything... and im worried there wont be enough time to do everything cause I have to get back to work in 1hour and i dont want him coming to my work to hand me back the keys because.. well... Im in hijab at work. Make duaa for me that tomorrow goes by smoothly insha'allah.

28 November 2006

It started out bad...

... Assalamalikum girlies, so today i woke up dead on 8am then spent the next 30 seconds trying to figure out what day it was.. in the end I went to my computer to figure it out. When I realised it was tuesday i shot around my room getting ready and freaking out, im supposed to be in work for 8 and it takes about 50 mins to get there.

So I eventually got there, just before 9am alhamdulillah, settled myself and made my way to the training room i was in today, which was the warping room. Subhanallah i had such a good day. The machines are soo loud in there so we usually wear earpieces but because i was training i got to wear some walkie talkie headphones with the woman who was training me, Ann. Masha'allah she was really nice, she asked me lots of questions about Islam and is the first person who asked me 'so is your whole family muslim or just you' if you read my UK diary you would know i love it when ppl dont assume you have to be born into the religion. She asked if i was married, all about my family, xmas celebrations and she knew quite abit too, she asked if i was allowed to go to the mosque to pray. I mentioned it was a common understanding that women couldnt go, that they had to stay at home, to which she told me, oh i know.. just i wondered cause u were single if u were allowed to go. So that was a new opinion i havent heard before, I even told her about my episode at the mosque on Friday. She mentioned the other guys who were muslim at work, told me she didnt really believe in God didnt know if it was a phase and that she was brought up RC. I mentioned that ppl dont realise the similarities between Judaism, Christianity & Islam most of the time, and told her that all 3 have the law of not eating pork and the head covering, which she said she didnt know. Alhamdulillah i was able to teach her something, she also told me she understood that what was portrayed wasnt the religion and that it was a religion of peace, masha'allah. I told her alot of ppl just didnt want to ask questions, or were worried about offending ppl to which she told me she would ask questions and i told her i would answer if i could so i didnt mind.

I told my boss what id been doing today and that i had really enjoyed myself, his answer?? I can tell... u have a different air about u.... i hope he doesnt think ive been bored up to now, well i have a little, but the 2 areas ive enjoyed the most have been when ppl allow me to do things for myself alhamdulillah.

When I had a bit of time between things i went upstairs to customer services to say hi and i mentioned to them about me being late... you know what one said?? one good thing was that i didnt have to do my hair because noone would know.. subhanallah... i couldnt believe she said it, not in a bad way, but i would never have been so blatent. Masha'allah, i like that they feel comfortable enough about me to say that, insha'allah this will lead to more.. Allahu alim.

So after work, I went for a medical for work, the dr was a london woman who has been here for 42 years.. she nearly mistook my accent for a brummie accent, can u believe it!!!?? Then I went to the shops to buy a chair & ottaman (pouffe) thats on sale for my new place... heehee, Ill have a chair but everyone else will be on the floor. Then I got home, at around 745pm and now im here.. its 850pm, I should be making something to eat but i really cant be bothered, and i want to sleep but i have to do washing.

Ok, now im gonna go and do some stuff... insha'allah ill write soon. Fi amenallah

My life

Assalamalikum girls...

so the muslim guy, Dawood has been really nice when i see him and the other day he asked if I was going to some curling event work has organised this weekend. I told him I couldnt for reasons of college and the fact that Im not yet living in Cambridge, he was fine with that and told me he has told all his family about me and they wanted to meet me, masha'allah.

There has been a guy at work installing some new equipment and hes from Wales originally so was nice to hear a good accent and to speak without being asked to repeat myself a few times. It was funny we were just chatting about home, he asked if i was over here on my own then just said, so youre muslim then, I was like yeh! What else could i say, thinking back i should have said something like.. oh what gives it away cause it was pretty silent for a bit after that, but then we picked up the pace again

I went to the hospital yesterday for a checkup, the deep burn on the top isnt getting better he said, so i have to start covering it with polysporin and covering the burn. He put some on yesterday and when i took it off in the evening to make wudu subhanallah i couldnt believe it, the burn area had rapidly reduced from like 7 hours ago. I can feel it getting tighter now, so gonna have to really start the exercises. He also told me i couldnt wear this pressure glove until the area had completely covered over but the way that its healing i think that should be soon insha'allah. It was soo painful to get the glove on yesterday for sizing because the wound was still open and the glove is so tight. I have to wear it gradually at first and work up to 23 hours a day, she told me each glove last for about 3 months and they gave me 2 for alternation. But if it reduces and flattens any scarring im there, loading with duaa too obviously

Last bit of news, I was accepted for the apartment. I phoned her yesterday to see if she had heard anything so she casually said, oh u were approved. I was like, and u were going to tell me.... when??? But oh well, I have it and thats the important thing. Now i just have to start getting my stuff ready, got some boxes yesterday and started packing up my islamic books to store at a friends until after the move. Have to phone around a few places today to get my address then change a few things, car insurance, doctors appointment, blah blah. But its slowly moving alhamdulillah.... and tomorrow Im going for a little meal with some sisters and a video after insha'allah. So looks like its gonna be a busy weekend, I cant wait to move over there then i can have a relaxing weekend cause i havent had one of those in awhile.

Ok, now time for fajr and for getting ready for another work day, alhamdulillah. Take care girls, and keep in touch. Fi amenallah

The frustration

Assalamalikum, so i just wanna vent about my day.. well 10 minutes of my day. So I went to the masjid Ive been praying at all week today for Dhuhr, when I got there it was locked, which i was expecting so I waited around for abit. Some dude came up to me and asked me what i was doing there, when i told him i was there to pray he asked me where to which i told him downstairs in the big room. He told me i couldnt pray there, there werent facilities for women. Now come on... facilities??? what do we need thats so different than men?? Do we need a slide? astagfrillah sorry, then he told me i should go home to pray, to which i told him (now he was getting to me at this point) i didnt live around there. So I waited around and in the end another guy drove in and walked straight to me, I felt like he was some sort of bouncer or something. So he salamed me, which was nice, then told me i couldnt pray here... after repeatedly asking him why he told me the mosque committee had decided to do this, I asked him if there was a woman on this 'committee' he laughed and started to tell me about the other mosque. Subhanallah... i nearly felt like crying. So i asked how far this was away.. he told me about 5mins, bare in mind i work only 4 mins from this masjid so this would mean nearly 10 mins away from work, which i told him and he just blankly looked at me.

So in the end i left for the other masjid... subhanallah, i was glad i did go, its massive and is connected to a school. Theres a nice womens section, cant see the other side cause its another room, but its clean with wudu area masha'allah and a nice big window. So i prayed then went to look around a little, didnt see much but insha'allah ill go back when im moved over there. I decided that when im moved i either finally ask if I can use a room, Im gonna ask Dawood where he prays when he has to, see if he prays at work, or just drive home cause its alot closer than the masjid. Then visit the masjid at weekends, or when i need something more, Im hoping insha'allah that they have some sort of classes there too.

What else did i do?? I went to my apartment to measure up for blinds and stuff, its been painted and looks sooo different, I got to check out my room more and was told theres actually 2 guys who live in the building that work at my place too. So im looking forward to getting everything in and finally making it mine insha'allah. Subhanallah i got some funny comments at work today: so what is your nationality? your english? and your parents? will u eat my food? i dont know what u can eat. It was funny.. and very good dawah alhamdulillah. Insha'allah I will be able to spread the word of Islam to some of my workers.

My hand is healing alhamdulillah, more and more everytime i look at it subhanallah. Truly amazing!! anyways, I have homework to do, which i havent so think ill rest now and get up early tomorrow. Keep in touch girls. Fi amenallah

21 November 2006

Scary

Assalamalikum, so heres what happened to me today. I had a 'Mission and Values' meeting with a few other new employees at work... So we were all there talking about this stuff, for 1 and a half hours..... 1.5hrs.. subhanallah, I couldnt believe it, but we finished at 435pm so only 25mins left then i could go home. Then after the meeting one of the guys comes walking towards me like he was gonna talk to me, for some reason I start freaking out, I think Ive become quite antisocial since Ive come over here. So it goes, hi, so i was wondering why you are wearing this... i thought, oh here we go, I was waiting for the 'youre in the west' .... so I told him, I am muslim, to which he proceeds to tell me that he is too, his name is dawood masha'allah, been in Canada 31 yrs, originally from Egypt and he was just a little confused at my non muslim name (when he had introduced himself as David) so I told him i was a new muslim. Then he told me, may Allah (swt) reward him for his intention, that if i needed any help, with food, transport, company to let him know and he would help me as best he could. I couldnt believe it, he chocked me up. Then he told me there are 3 other muslim guys at my work, Aiyub, Mohammed and Khalid, I know you dont need to know names but its in the story.

Now Im still waiting to hear back from the landlords about whether ive been accepted for the apartment. Im a little nervous cause i havent heard back from them, insha'allah it isnt a bad thing. Remember me in ur duaa girls, its the final piece to the puzzle

20 November 2006

Subhanallah

Assalamalikum girls, insha'allah all is well with everyone. So i started my new job today, at last alhamdulillah and it went well.... long, but well. Totally different to what im used to, which is going to be good experience. I was a little nervous about working the midnight shift, but Allahu alim... today at the end of the day, one of the guys who i had been following was talking to a girl about how hard hes finding it to find a good babysitter during the day. So he talks to my boss and asks him if it would be ok for him to change shifts with me when im fully trained, subhanallah... i couldnt believe it!! Alhamdulillah!! So insha'allah i will be moving to a 7am-3pm shift after i finished my 8am-5pm training shedule. Im so excited. Tonight I applied for my apartment, $680 for a 2 bedroomed apartment, alot different than $560 one room & bathroom Im paying out now. And insha'allah my car insurance is gonna go down by around $200, which will pay the difference for my apartment, plus im getting paid a little bit extra. Subhanallah... things seem to be going well, alhamdulillah... just need to get the h2b over now

16 November 2006

Salam girls, so I came home yesterday from staying a few days at my mums to find this basket sat outside my door. I couldnt believe it, they are from my new job, there was a card attached that said "Thinking of you as you recover from your ****** (Company name) Looking forward to seeing you soon" I was soo shocked and surprised, but it picked me up a little after a really bad week, Allahu alim.

I was apartment hunting today... and still nothing!! Make duaa for me that I get something soon girls, I gave my notice in for the place Im in now and have to be out by dec 1st

My hand

Assalamalikum girls, i just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you for ur prayers It really was appreciated, and heard alhamdulillah.
I got to the hospital, they IVd me, sent me up to the OR eventually, then the dr came to see the burn. He opened the bandages, muttered a long oh, to which i start panicing... then he told me, i cant touch this its too healed... all skin, cant operate on skin. So im gonna send u home and we will look at u next thursday.... subhanallah.. Thanks once again girls, dunno wot i would do without u all.

7 November 2006

Hand update

Assalamalikum girls... ok, so i said i would keep you up to date.. if anyone saw my msn name today i had a hosptial appointment to decide whether i needed a skin graft or not. Well apparently the doctors had already decided, they just wanted me to realise that i needed, which i still dont. Anyways, insha'allah im going in on Friday morning for the op, will be out by mid afternoon insha'allah with a cast on my hand to stop me doing anything (Care of my doctor who knows me oh too well) then the following thursday im going to get the cast cut off and checked, they will see whether it still needs to be bandaged up or left open.. then he said promising i dont do anything with it, i can start work on the monday (nov 20th) so im happy that i have a date, and that i have 2 wks off.
Oh on another note.. my friend took me to hospital and brought me home, when we were about 4mins from mine we were changing lanes and some loser was changin into the same lane, so my friend swerved to avoid him..... that was it, she lost control of the car... we went over all 4 lanes backwards & forewards in circles and everything eventually stopping off the highway in a little ditch. Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah... we couldnt believe it, no other car had hit us, her car was fine and most importantly we were fine, subhanallah.. he really was watching us alhamdulillah. Thats my news for today... im going to go relax now

3 November 2006

Bad day!!

Assalamalikum girls, so i had a rough day from start to finish really. I didnt sleep last night, i had a dream about me & my mum being held hostage at my grandparents house in UK. It was weird and i couldnt really sleep after it, well ended up wakin up at 650am and was late to get out of the house for my ride (i was going to work cause it was easier to get a taxi from there than my house) eventually get to work, after everyone asks how i am i eventually get offered a lift to the hospital from a friend who is on MAT leave but her & her hubbie are moving away. So we get to my appointment, and the dr tells me he can 'fix' my hand... after not really understanding he started talking about skin grafts from my leg, well that was when i freaked and didnt really hear much. What i did hear that i didnt want to was that i cant start work on monday we finally decided to have me go in on tuesday for a checkup, its the top of my hand he is concerned about. He says if it heals over 90% by tuesday they will leave it, if not they will look at doin the skin draft on wednesday, keep me in overnight and see how it goes. He said usually they leave it 2wks and then allow them to go back to work on light duties, which was stressing me out no end.

so i get back to work, they tell me they wont pay for parking cause officially i left yesterday. How bad is that?? really peeved me off. So we go out for dinner which was really nice, and everyone paid for our meals too which was not expected. Then we went back to work, cause i got the lift in the morning, so i was waiting for her in the afternoon too.

Fast forward.... Im home, I have a little rest, well try cause i get phoned twice in the process. Then the lady who owns the house where I live starts shouting my name 'i have many parcels for you' heehee which was exciting. In the end I ended up with 6 new hijabs, a little book & matching photoframe, a copy of Iqra newspaper and a little handbag. Masha'allah I was soo pleased, I showed Anisah my hijabs and she says they all suit me so well alhamdulillah. So now insha'allah i will email a sister, and tomorrow talk to another to say thanks for thinking of me and may Allah (swt) reward them for their thoughts and intentions.

So Ive just watched Ghost whisperer then I phoned my mum... BIG MISTAKE!!! Subhanallah... as soon as she picked up the phone i could tell she was going to say something to annoy me. So she starts off by askin if i gave the girl who gave me a lift anything for petrol or parking, i tell her i paid half parking but didnt think about the petrol.. so she goes off on one calling me selfish and tight with my money. I dont generally carry money around with me, so i dont see it in my purse, so i never really think about it. She says i should realise im not a student anymore and should start thinking about things like this, so when i answer her next question with a short reply its all about her, 'so u dont answer cause i moaned at u' no.. i answered because thats the reply.. she goes, ok fine, if u dont want to talk to me hang up... now could u imagine the reply if i did do that?? she carries on complaining about other things.. namely not wanting to drive in the winter..... so in the end i just tell her im going to get ready for college... its too much for me sometimes, may Allah (swt) give me the sabr to cope with my mum. She just made me feel so crap, especially after not the best day, i finally feel like things are looking up then it goes back down again. Its sucks!!!

Anyways, sorry for going on. Im going to bed now. Fi amenallah

1 November 2006

Its late

its 135am................. and i cant sleep.................cause my hand is too itchy............... i really feel sorry for those who break a limb and have it set in plaster. But then if they dont break the skin at least they can set a stick a scratcher down there or something. I think ive made something bleed down there too cause the bandage is non stick now so i cant tell if it moves around................. please God, stop it scratching!!

31 October 2006

Another update

Assalamalikum girls... so not much happens in my life now, just my bandages change and i get to see how different things look under there. Today was quite exciting, i got supplies delivered yesterday including non stick bandages alhamdulillah, the others have been ripping off my skin when i take them off. So i got to use all the new bits today heehee, how exciting!!! so anyways the burn on the top of my hand is actually starting to heal, i see pink skin and the nurse is very pleased with it, even said its healing pretty quickly alhamdulillah. I told her about the constant itching and the sharp shooting pains ive been having which apparently is new skin forming and old skin flaking away. So i was really pleased to hear all this, so i think i will be able to cope with the annoyingness (if thats a word) of the feelings alhamdulillah. Just wanted to let you all know, you have all been so kind in your words which i appreciate, insha'allah tomorrow ill take some uptodate pictures for those who want to see it. Keep writing girls, miss u all.

27 October 2006

Hand update

Assalamalikum, so i went to the hospital yesterday which cost $60 each way, insha'allah ill get that money back. So i get to the plastics clinic and my doctor is in surgury so i go for a hot chocolate and a walk around. I finally see the resident at around 1040am she pulls off my bandages cleans it up a little, painfully may I add... takes a look at the burns, takes a few pics for the doctor to see and talked to me about it. Alhamdulillah she says she was expecting worse and that its going ok, she asks about pain, I tell her about the stabbing pains I keep getting on the deep burn at the top of my hand and the stiffness of the whole hand since they cut open the blisters. She says everything looks fine and that i should keep up with my exercises more so now, so Im trying to stay away from the computer cause my fingers dont actually move that much position wise. She also made an appointment for me to see the doctor next week and told me that was that. Im like.. hmm, ok, my questions now.. can i go back to work?? on modified duties?? obviously not back into the lab but admin work and such, she pulls a face and says she would rather i didnt cause the hand needed rest, elevation and not the opportunity to mayb be used unintentionally. So now im off work, and Im not going back to my old job which is a little sad cause well.. i wont see everyone, they are going out for something to eat next week and im trying to get there with them. Insha'allah things will work out for the best, Allahu alim. I phoned the agency and told them what has happened, he told me he would phone the guy at the job and explain that i might need to rest my hand the first few weeks.... insha'allah hes ok with this, im gonna email him now and see what he says. The hospital has also decided that i only need to change the bandages once a day, which is good so Im waiting for the nurse to come this morning. In the meantime im going to try for another shower insha'allah then tidy my room a little cause its a mess. dont really feel like cleaning up when u cant even use your hand properly im trying to stay on the positive side... i had a big freak out wednesday night after seeing some of the skin (looked like massive scarring, but found out it was dead tissue and after it being soaked yesterday the skin does actually look like its coming off alhamdulillah) and not being able to open a bottle of saline solution. Felt soo helpless and as some of u may know, i dont like relying on other people... hmmm wonder how h2b will cope with that when hes hubbie. Something to think about

Well, thats me signing off now girls... insha'allah hear from u all soon. Remember me, and the ummah in a similar position to me, in ur duaa for a quick and full recovery. Fi amenallah

25 October 2006

My Eid

Assalamalikum, ok for those who havent heard... i had a pretty bad Eid. Allahu alim... so heres how it went. Sunday, I was contemplating taking the day off, but i didnt have the holidays and couldnt afford to take it without pay what with this new job coming up and whatever... so i go to work on monday. Lunch time comes and goes, and i get back into the lab.. im trying to get some work done before a girl comes who im supposed to be training because i dont follow the method for it, and dont want to go through the whole thing of explaining why because we arent supposed to change the methods. I had this issue when i first started, the guy before changed them but didnt tell anyone so i came to a brick wall when things didnt work cause 'they worked for him' so it was a case of argue until blue in the face or just change it and not tell them. So i took the latter option (easier) anyways, i was digesting a sample in sulphuric acid.. for those of you who dont know this acid check out this link it reacts with water to form a hot liquid and is quite corrosive. Ive done this digestion a million times since i started work 2 yrs ago... this time it just didnt go as it usually did.

Long story short i ended up spilling it on my hand my skin turned black and i ran straight to the sink... from then till about 3 hrs later my hand was kept numb from the cold water. But once it became unnumb, well lets say there were tears. i got moved to a hospital that specialises with burns about 15mins drive from the other hospital, first they told me they got in touch with the plastic surgeon which freaked me out. They said they didnt do anything, to phone burns. So i go to the burns unit, they tell me the other hospital didnt do what they should have done so had my hand under water for 1hr.. then doused it with cream and bandaged it up, then told me i needed to stay in for 24hrs for obs. I wasnt intending on telling my mum cause she would just freak and start makin it into a big issue, for me i saw no need for this, things couldnt be changed, Allah (swt) has his plans and i didnt think it was that bad. The burn started between my thumb and index finger on the back of my hand, and spread around into my palm and up my index finger. So it started blistering a little, so much so that i couldnt lift up my index finger for tashahud when i did get to pray. The night was boring, but alhamdulillah my friend came and brought me some stuff. So the next morning i was woken up at 730 to 'check things' subhanallah i could have kicked the nurse.. but then i was havin this weird stiffness in my upper arm and started worrying, until i remembered they gave me a tetanus shot at the first hospital, and its still hurting now. So the doctor came round and told them to burst the blisters and he would check me the next morning, im like u want me to stay in again?? hes like yeh, dont u want to?? i go, erm... NO!! he eventually gives in after i tell him i wont do anything

so alhamdulillah im at home now. Had the nurse come round yesterday and this morning to change my bandages, they see pink skin so its healing alhamdulillah. This morning its pretty tight and my exercises hurt more.. but i know i have to do them. Just wanted to keep u all up to date. Make duaa for a speedy and full recovery for me insha'allah, JazakAllah Khair girls. Fi amenallah,

Maybe not a visual person

Assalamalikum girls, so I mentioned in my forum that Im a visual person hence why I find it hard to just listen to lectures. Well, today I went to a lecture on the battle of Badr.. after finally getting there and paying my $5 the speaker wasnt loud enough, then 20mins later they fixed that alhamdulillah. I got there at about 1045 and left at 12pm.. at around 1120 I realised I was too distracted with all the kids playing (not running around!) and the people around me... so what do i do??? If I cant listen to cds and cant watch people live.. subhanallah am i doomed to reading things (not that i dont like reading, just need other material) Insha'allah Ill figure out something, just wanted to voice my frustrations.

My Hanouni finally made it safely to Algiers on Friday and left a message on my answering machine to tell me he had arrived alhamdulillah, he seemed ok.. considering the first part of his message was him talking to someone else. Yup, thats what he does... alhamdulillah, hes fine and dandy and insha'allah ill get to speak to him soon.

Ok, enough from me. Fi amenallah

The final salah of the weekend trek

Assalamalikum girls... ok, I know its taken awhile but here it is...

Isha and Taraweeh So we got to ISNA eventually after getting caught in a massive rainstorm but alhamdulillah we got there with just under an hour to spare before prayer. The woman I was with had never been here before, so I took her to the book store and showed her around the school bit (you have to walk through the school to get from the bookshop to the masjid area) I showed her the masjid... whoever has been there, im sure they will agree its amazing masha'allah. Her husband was picking her up.. but the time she said was the time for isha, I asked her if she didnt mind if i went for prayer, she was like... no u go, so we got her stuff out my car and she was browsin through the books and stuff outside the masjid area. Then i went into the prayer area, prayed 2 rakahs for the new mosque.. tried to get myself sorted.. then eventually my friends showed up my mate from down the road then i saw 2 girls who i knew through her, then later during taraweeh another friend of ours showed up. Alhamdulillah, i just wish they could have been there for the whole thing, Allahu alim.

So we prayed 20 rakahs.. subhanallah it was amazing. I was trying to count, then trying not to count cause i was focusing on the counting.. then I completely lost track and we were up to 19 lol.. alhamdulillah. I have to say (in relation to onemuslimahs comments) i actually found it harder to concentrate here.. i know uve seen the inside of the masjid so u know the little half wall glass divide but it was soo busy and people were coming and going i found it really hard. But in Taric where there was noo divide i found it so much easier, but then there wasnt as many people. I liked the fact that there wasnt a divide but then sometimes i wish there was.. when there are men walking past looking for someone... it frustates me, that these men dont have modesty in the eyes.. Allahu alim.

Well.. i still have another blog to do with the job issue im having at the moment, 3 months this has been going on for but alhamdulillah im nearing the end of the line... insha'allah tomorrow Ill let you know more.

I forgot to tell you

About an issue when I was there for Isha... so I came out after Isha to get my bag properly or something, but then I found I couldnt get back to my spot.. you know how you shouldnt cross someones path when they are praying. So I was stuck at the back waiting to get through, there were 2 little girls sat next to where I was standing and where looking at my situation. So they start chatting to me, asking me what I will do.. then one asks, have you just become a muslim or have u always been one, which was soo cute so i told her i was a new one and she was like.. ok, so do you like it? I said yeh.. do you? and shes like.. yeh, its cool. Masha'allah. Then when everyone stopped praying and i found a route i said goodbye to them, and she was like... erm, we really like your accent lol..
Then later on... after some taraweeh, i think the 8 rakahs... someone came up to me and told me that they really liked my nose stud.. I was like.. hmm, ok... Ok, thats it for now.. I gonna go back to my quran now insha'allah.

Next Installement

Assalamalikum ladies, ok so im in a good mood.. and waiting for iftar so thought I would finish up a few loose ends with this blog insha'allah. So where was I?? oh yes

Maghrib we drove over to the International Organisation of Muslims I made sure we got there early cause I wanted to buy some halal marshmallows from across the street. When we got there it started pouring down.. subhanallah, the heavens opened, so we browsed around the shop, I saw a cute niqab i was gonna send over to Dee but it wasnt the price i thought it was.. sorry sis so the lady i was with bought a few books for a friend then we walked back to the car and drove over the road to the masjid. We walked over.. then i realised we didnt have our drinks to break fast with and I was sooo surprised at how packed the place was masha'allah. We get inside eventually and i see that they have a few stalls up.. ive been looking for a square chiffon brown scarf without CK written all over it.. why is it soo hard?? We see that there are also people getting ready for iftar, they have set up a massive food thing for everyone, may Allah (swt) reward them for their efforts. We go and sit in the masjid.. dya know what she says to me?? so now what do we do i put my bag down getting ready to pray the 2 rakah for the new masjid.. and she says, we pray 2 rakah for the new mosque, see im learning off you... subhanallah i could have cried right there. Alhamdulillah. Then we sat down next to a young woman and her daughter, she asked if we had anything to break fast so we told her we had some juice.. she went on to tell us they had iftar for everyone next door and to go get some... so off we went, they had tea (which i havent had here for ages) i asked if they had sugar.. so she pointed me in the direction of the sugar filled teas.. then i was stopped by a really pretty sister masha'allah. She asked where i was from, obviously picking up on the accent and asked if i was a revert, when i answered in the affirmative she told me she was too, then she asked if i would help her on camera.. i shook my head, sorry. so we parted after promising to talk after and went to pick up our iftar plate, a date, samosa & some chickpea stuff really nice masha'allah. Then we sat down, we talked and took in the atmosphere.. it isnt the first time Ive been to IMO but it might as well have been, cause this experience was totally different alhamdulillah. We broke fast then the sister came over to talk to us.. we told each other our stories and promised to exchange details after salah., so we all prayed.. masha'allah it was soo nice. Then we did exchange details, which reminds me to write to her insha'allah. We were just about to leave when they brought out a massive trolley of food for the main course.. subhanallah, so we decided to stay, there was bread, spicy rice, chicken & salad.. subhanallah it was amazing, and we got to speak to other people around us too which was nice. Then we made our way for Isha & taraweeh.

Ok, now its time for food. insha'allah ill be back soon.

My weekend finally

Assalamalikum girlies.. so I just woke up after a 'little nap' I was sooo tired this afternoon, I went to bed at 1730 to have an hours sleep.. didnt actually start tryin to get to sleep till 1820, this is how tired I was.. i didnt hear the adhan for maghrib missed the end of my fast (insha'allah this doesnt make it invalid) or my alarm and woke up at 1950

Fajr Ok, so heres how it went.... Saturday morning, I wake up at 5 for fajr at Istiqamah masjid in Mississauga for the start of my mosque trek. I sit at my computer for a bit after arranged with my friend down the road to meet her in front of her house at 0530 (i was working for a few hours so I had to be able to leave on my own) I wasnt really expecting anyone else to be coming for fajr so this for me was the start of my islamic day. So im sat down chatting to a few friends and eating a little, then I realise I should probably start getting ready otherwise I would be late. According to the website fajr was 0615 and we wanted to get there a little early to get together outside and get sorted inside. So i make a cup of mint tea to take with me, as Im sorting out my bag I pick up my phone to put away and realise I have a text message from the friend I was supposed to be meeting. Sayin she just got to bed at 0200 so wouldnt be coming for fajr, I was annoyed and thought about not going but decided I had the intention of doing this so I should go, I mean... only Allah (swt) knows who would be there so I still went. I got there after about 10mins drive which I was impressed with, getting to the masjid it was the usual masjid u find in the middle of an industrial estate.. just a building, nothing fancy.. but alhamdulillah, so its dark and the sign says brothers & sisters use the back entrance. So I drive around to the back to find no other cars there and a sign saying sisters entrance, I pick up my tea and make my way in the rain over to the door... guess what! Its locked! So I knock a few times... looking back I should have knocked on the door next to the sisters entrance.. but the fact that there were no cars was just weird.. it was in the middle of no really housing, would the wives be dropping the guys off, to drive home, then to drive back to pick them up?? I cant really see that happening somehow. Allahu alim.. so I drive home, and pray fajr in the comfort of my own home.. then I sleep for an hour before getting up for the airport.

Dhuhr I leave at about 1215 to get to the next masjid, I didnt know how to get there.. never been before so wanted to get there on time, plus after posting my intentions at toronto muslims website I had a few emails from sisters and was meeting one of them at this masjid. So I was a little nervous too, she was older than me.. she told me double my age so i was thinking around 50.. so was worried that it wouldnt be what she was expecting but alhamdulillah we had a great time. In the end there was only me & her for the 3 day time prayers, I was upset.. cause I wanted to share this experience with more people, but alhamdulillah this way I was able to concentrate more on the reading side of the day and less on idle chatter alhamdulillah. I got off the highway and started towards the masjid, thats when I worried I wouldnt be able to find the place... and if you know me, I get sooo nervous and get really stressed driving in areas I dont know. I shouldnt have worried.. subhanallah, 2 sets of lights or so later I saw the minaret from the lights before... subhanallah this place was massive & amazing. I took pics of my travels, so insha'allah once I have them developed Ill post them (my battery died on the last masjid I visited) I stood around for ages, worried because there was a funeral taking place and there were sooo many people, I was thinking, man!! I dont even have her number, or know what she looks like.. alhamdulillah at 1300 a couple walked up to me, she stood infront of me kind of not sayin anything, then she was like... Ammena??? alhamdulillah, so we hugged and salamed. Then we finally made our way in, after more hugging and putting her home made cake in my car (which was yummy) So we prayed the 2 rakahs for entering the masjid and sat down to read.. I started some sewing, only to realise I had taken the scissors off the shelve but not put them in my bag. I was reading my quran and I bought my stories of the prophets book too. Then the prayer was getting closer and the room was filling up lots, with a few women crying for the deceased (who we later found out was an imam) we prayed more sunnah and eventually fard. Then took part in the jennaz which Ive never been to, it was strange and I would like to learn more about it.. it was alot of takbir, and duaa but was nice to be apart of. We decided to stay awhile after to let the crowds move before leaving and when we came out i took a few pics of the masjid.

Asr We made our way to Taric masjid which I have seen many times from the highway and always wanted to go to, eventually I managed to get there, I remember seeing last Ramadan some ppl going into the masjid for iftar and I was soo amazed. The place is amazing, so big.. so we walk in, the first thing I notice the women & men prayer space is in the basement, you see its tall as well as square footage, I guess I assumed that the women would be on the top floor with the men underneath. So for them both to be on the same floor, I was like.. oh ok then. So we find our the gym and library is on the top floor, the gym is used for everything really.. lectures, iftars, sports, weddings... pretty cool. We walk down and take off our shoes.. I notice that the place isnt that big which surprises me, then I cant see where we are supposed to pray.. we ask a guy who tells us in there ie the same place as the guys... yup u guessed it.. no barrier, not even a curtain.. subhanallah.. yes I know there shouldnt be, but when you get soo used to being shoved in another room or begin a screen you just assume.. subhanallah apart from praying behind my other half.. this was one of the most unforgettable prayer experiences in my life, and I will never forget that insha'allah. Subhanallah!!!

Ok, so its getting late... and im tired, still so insha'allah Ill continue tomorrow. Can u wait?? tough you have to heehee. Fi amenallah girls

29 September 2006

What is the world coming to??

Assalamalikum girls, well I have a feeling this is gonna be a long one so get comfortable.. One muslimah was complainin I dont write, well here u go.

So I went to the masjid near my work today, for my hour lunch as I have been doing since the start of Ramadan. I havent been in so long, because dhuhr has been late and i dont always drive to work, so there have been a few guys that come in while im there, masha'allah, the same guys too. When i used to go more frequently, jummah on friday was packed... up to the point where I would have to go cause I was too late and they never opened the womans doors. So I was expecting today to be hard for me with it being the first friday of Ramadan, so I park my car on the street so I dont get blocked in outside the masjid. As I walk up there are 2 guys stood just past the masjid, i go in... pray 2 rakahs, and sit down to read todays part of the quran... I actually got really into it today that when someone opened the door I jumped, and it was such a nice feeling alhamdulillah. So I sit to read, hear the door open a few times, someone look in then walk back out when they see me.. I see this oldish man walk in while I prayed dhuhr and make some noise when he saw me and walked back out, so I took that as a sign to move out.. I finished praying then left... to no men outside, a few in cars I noticed when I backed out.. but it was sooo eery, and it saddened me. Allahu alim. I just wanted to share my sadness, oh that makes me sound so morbid now.

Well on a brighter note I got an email back from the agency about the job Ive been after, only to find after the boss of the agency phoned me at 1740 tonight. Heres what it said:

"Well, fact is he has been hearing good things about you from the people you met previously and because of that he would like very much to meet you! He is willing to meet you most any day next week whether it be early morning, or in the afternoon depending on what works best for you!

Secondly, and just as importantly their has been a change with the shift as the hours of work will now be 11 PM – 7 AM as opposed to an afternoon shift! Hopefully this does not cause you too much concern because it will still art the least allow you to get your foot in their door so to speak!"

So I have an interview with the last and final guy insha'allah on wednesday, this will be purely with him and the LAST one... insha'allah... I was worried about getting this job before Ramadan as I wouldnt feel the benefits or the hardness of fasting due to sleeping during the day. The boss, Jim.. he told me the work times are sunday-thursday 11pm - 7am (as above) which would mean i could have a good longer weekend even though its still a 5 day week, I would be home early friday morning and back in work late sunday evening.. insha'allah it works out.. can u imagine?? a hijabi working with guns.. subhanallah I think its such good dawah, and Jim told me they are opening a plant in China, they have one here, one in Charlotte, USA... can u imagine?? oh just popping over to the china plant heehee.

Also, before today I had properly started to plan (well in my head) my trip to Australia insha'allah.. i was thinking of goin the xmas week and the first 2 of 2007.. Allahu alim.. i told my mum i wanted to go island hopping see a few places.. she was soo nervous 'ooh i dont think thats a good idea' 'u hear of all these murders' ' cant u go with someone' so i emailed a friend to ask her but she hasnt got back to me yet. But now Im thinking if this job works out, insha'allah, then that plan might go up in the pan. Allah (swt) truly is he greatest of planners alhamdulillah.

Ok, well Im off to pray Isha & witr now, hows my plans going?? well alhamdulillah Ive been able to keep up on the sunnah salah and 3 rakahs for witr.. and the dhikr after each salah alhamdulillah.. fajr was getting better too.. but since Ramadan has started.. well its sort of been a eyes wide open 35 mins before fajr alhamdulillah. How is fajr going for you all?? insha'allah well.. So thats me for now.. insha'allah this will give you something to read before my next fix

22 September 2006

Wahey!!

Assalamalikum sisters, ok.. so finally Ive learnt the surah Ive been learning for ages Image May Allah (swt) forgive me, surah Quraish. .alhamdulillah, so 6 and counting now alhamdulillah. Just wanted to let you all know cause Im happy and I just woke up heehee.

15 September 2006

My tea last night

who says I dont eat properly??? hmm?? potatoes, lots of veggies (i didnt think it would be so much) cauliflower, broccoli & carrots, and sole fried in a little lemon juice and flour. It was sooo nice, and now I remember why I like making big things like that.. cause I feel so much better after. The past 3 evenings Ive been really bad with my food, I would get hungry around 6ish so would make a little snack, which would end up makin me not really hungry until it was bedtime so I wouldnt eat any more. Allahu alim... insha'allah it wont happen often.. Ive run out of crackers, and thats what Ive been eating, cheese & tomato on crackers. heehee.

11 September 2006

My afternoon

Salam sisters, Ive been quite busy this evening and wanted to tell you all what Ive been up to. So the girl I car share with, shes gone to Poland for a month so Im driving on my own for the time being. Its nice, being able to leave when I want and do things after work. Tonight, after work I went to the gym for an hour... it was nice, I pushed myself a little bit more because well Id like to move into Ramadan in some sort of shape insha'allah. So i ran, cycled and did the machines, mainly my legs, arms & abs... heehee, what else is there to work on?? lol. Then I went for some food shopping, the gym is in the shopping centre, and bought quite good stuff. Watermelon, bananas, oranges, nectarines, noodles, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, some milk (which I drank on the way home), grapes and some bread... then I drove home, this was just after 6 so the traffic wasnt too bad alhamdulillah. Then I got home, unpacked the food, and put some washing in the washing machine. Checked my forum... 1 post, ate some watermelon & watched coronation street. Now im here writing this.
In relation to my... strengthening my deen thing, well I decided to forget about that list thing I made.. wasnt useful, Im just gonna write it down insha'allah. Anyways, I bought something the other day my new quran masha'allah its really good, it has notes about each chapter, arabic, english & transliteration, and footnotes.. alhamdulillah I love it. And also, I learnt the duaa before sleeping, I didnt realise but it was sort of sticking in my head bit by bit. Yesterday I went to a masjid to pick up a book i left there ages ago.. alhamdulillah I eventually found it, but before finding it we had to wait because there was a sheikh there giving a talk. I wasnt too sure whether it was the khutba or just a talk, and eventually realised.. so I was listening to some of the things he was saying and he mentioned the importance of saying this duaa before sleeping. Listen to this sisters.... Imagine... passing away in the night, you are pure because you should be clean (wudu wise) before you sleep but if you say this duaa you are even purer as if you where saying the shahada at the time of death... thats what I got from wot he was saying anyway, hmm... mayb I shouldnt write this if im not sure... ok, so anything wrong is from Me & shaitan, only God knows everything. Allahu alim.
Ok.. so that is what Ive been up to, nearly finished my shahada stitching too... insha'allah Ill have it finished soon. Keep in touch. Fi amenallah

4 September 2006

My interview

so I had my second interview with the company on Friday, I was a little late... completely missed the turn off from the motorway, silly lorries that get in the way of my sight Image So I eventually get there... I have it with 3 ppl, 2 guys & a girl... they are all ppl who work there in either the lab or the ballistics range. They were all pretty down to earth ppl and made me feel comfortable masha'allah, the funny thing is that they also deal with the company who I did my years placement for at home. So Ive just emailed them today to see if they can get me any info insha'allah. All in all I think it well well insha'allah, by the end of the interview they were saying well if you get it you can do this and look here blah blah... u see, after that interview the guy who I had the first interview with will talk to them and find out if they think I will fit in with the ppl... then the next stage is me meeting more people who work there, so they have more of an idea how I will get on with everyone. Insha'allah it went ok, they arent interviewing anyone else for the position that ive been told... so insha'allah they will look past the scarf and see I know what Im talking about. Remember me in ur duaas sisters, I will keep u up to date. The agency said they will get onto the main guy and insha'allah i will hear back sometime this week, definately not as long as the period between the last 2 interviews.

1 September 2006

Do you want to be like America??

Assalamalikum, so on my way into work there was a article on the radio about how Canada is less inspired by their work. When looking at answers to some questionnaire they found that in any given week about 7% of Canadians of off work for some reason, compared with 4% of Americans. That if Canadians where more 'into' (they used a better word but I cant remember it) the each family household would be $5110 better off and the Canadian government would make more than $15million a yr so the economy would be better. Subhanallah... Im not being funny, and Im not saying this just cause im English... but who cares??? hmm?? really now?? Money isnt everything and with the extra time that the Canadians take off... ermm... family time mayb?? lol... I keep imagining how disgusted the people who compiled this piece would be if they compared America or even Canada to Europe heehee... now that would be worth listening to.

Anyways, i have the second interview for the job as ballistics technician this afternoon... 230pm so remember me in your duaas insha'allah

Fi amenallah

25 August 2006

The weekend is here alhamdulillah

Assalamalikum sisters, so its finally friday... I dont know about everyone else but these past few weeks have flown by and it scares me a little. Allahu alim.

So today I eventually got an email back from the agency who headhunted me for a job as a ballistic technician, insha'allah the company will sort out a date this week for us to get together again. This will be my 2nd interview with them and the guy said usually they go for 3-5 interviews... hmmm dunno if I have that amount of time I can take off, but we will see how it goes. Insha'allah it works out, it means more money insha'allah, me moving to Cambridge, Ontario, me wearing hijab to work (this is the biggest thing and most exciting for me) and also working shifts... thats one thing I am nervous about but Allah (swt) knows best.

Its Saturday tomorrow (obviously) so Im waiting to see whether I can wake up for fajr tomorrow... Ive been keeping up with my to-do list alhamdulillah, dhikr, sunnah salah after maghrib, full 3 rakah witr and (apart from last weekend) fajr on time with sunnah. So all is going well... one thing I havent really kept up with is something not on my list, when I mentioned reading between maghrib & isha... ive been reading around then... but its all good.

I have halaqa tomorrow, and Im working for a few hours.. then sunday my mum is coming over and we are going to the cinema... its her birthday monday so she wants to do something with me as I wont be able to see her then.

Well... time for bed. Insha'allah speak to you all soon... Keep in touch.. I do look forward to your comments. Fi amenallah

Laser hair removal

just wondered what everyone thought about this subject?? Im thinking of doing it when I get abit of money aside insha'allah. Some places look ok for prices and I know I should go with a respectable company, how do I find that though? When I dont know anyone that has had it done... hmm.. Im thinking underarm and lower legs... thats what I usually get waxed and on a whole wont it be cheaper in the long run?? Theres a place in Toronto that do underarms for $149 ok.. so i would like to wax my underarms once a month.. at least, it doesnt grow that fast and lets face it, who do I have to look good for so it costs $15 each time I think it is... so at once a month it would take me 10 months for it to pay for itself.. and well I dont have to think about it for the rest of my life... hmmm.. it seems to sound better. I wish I could get my bikini line done, but Allahu alim.. with my legs I usually have them done once every 3-4 months.. cause they hardly grow, those who know me will vouch for this insha'allah... Ive waxed since i was a teenage alhamdulillah and only have hair on the front of my legs. Lemme know your opinions insha'allah.

What I did tonight

Assalamalikum sisters,

so I found this on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isra_and_Miraj have a read... I didnt read it all but its interesting masha'allah. So I decided I was gonna pray some extra salah and try read my quran too, I was a little late with maghrib, so I prayed it... then 2 sunnah rakat, 2 nafl rakah, read quran, 2 nafl, read quran, 2 nafl... then it was time for Isha... so i pray fard, 2 sunnah, 2 nafl.... this is where I am for now.. heehee... gonna read some quran pray 2 nafl, read some more..

u know that thing that salah is the best exercise.. Im totally relating to it now alhamdulillah. I have on my pjs and my baggy prayer dress with attached shayla, im really warm and i can feel my muscles sometimes shaking in sujood... Then insha'allah im gonna pray witr and 2 nafl then read quran and sleep insha'allah. Also, Im thinking... well I feel soo much better for doing this, in myself, you know... so im thinking, when i can insha'allah (as in when Im not at my mums) Im gonna take the time between maghrib & isha and do this more... mayb not as many salah but definately reading quran and other islamic books... theres an hour and a half between em.. I think I can do quite alot in that time... oooh Im soo excited. Ok, well back to my mat. Insha'allah catch u soon.

Update

Assalamalikum everyone, so I found the checklist blog which I will use insha'allah to organise my time. So insha'allah they will be ticked off in time. So here is my update so far with my list

1. Wake for fajr on time, pray sunnah too (as usual) and praise Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala) 100 times before sleeping some more.

So from when this list was created this week I was doing good, until the weekend hit then it was out the window. I really dont understand what it is about the weekends that makes my hearing shut off at 5am. Im thinking mayb subconsciously i know that when I wake up I will have time to pray whereas during the week I wont cause by the time I leave the time after sunrise is just finishing when I have the time to do it. Mayb thats why. Anyone have any hadith about missing fajr to kick me up the backside?? Actually I know I have an email about fajr, insha'allah Ill read it later.

2. To pray sunnah salah after Maghrib & full 3 rakah for witr

Alhamdulillah this is being kept up and I must admit its pretty easy to keep up with alhamdulillah. I try to pray Isha when the adhan goes so Im not praying them all before bedtime, thats when I get restless and I have less concentration. So we can tick this one off heehee... although Im gonna keep it on my checklist and see how it goes insha'allah.

3. To learn the duaa (Qunut) for witr

Well this should really be number 4 cause Im learning my surah first... so no comment for this cause I havent even looked at it Image

Frustrations

Assalamalikum sisters, I just wanted to get out my annoyance at the drivers in this country AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ok, all out now... I dunno if its cause of where I live (near a big city) or just canadians on a whole... no offence to the canucks here.... im sure it isnt everyone, just the ones I come across.....

So I was just walking around the shopping centre and I saw a kid I reckon about 10 or 11 with a tshirt on that said.... drunk chicks think Im hot.. subhanallah... what is the world coming to when parents buy these things for their kids, cause he really wasnt at an age to be buying his own clothes. Also, I noticed the majority of the girls where either pulling up jeans or pulling down tshirts or skirts... alhamdulillah for the way I dress... no pulling of any kind alhamdulillah.

Well thats it for now... insha'allah back to work on my arabic, my arabic teacher is home august 28th and shes warned me of a test not looking forward to that especially when I havent done nearly as much as I wanted to... but isnt that always the way??!

Fi amenallah my dear sisters.

My deen

Assalamalikum sisters,

so Ive decided... Im gonna make a few changes in relation to my deen insha'allah to strengthen myself. Tonight, Ive chatted with a friend from home.... ate, stitched some more and insha'allah im gonna read more of the book Im reading with my Islamic reading group. However, for now... this is a pact to myself, but I just wanted to tell you all about it Image not for any particular reason.. mainly cause I speak to a few of you often and Im hoping you will keep me on my toes Image So here it is...

1. Wake for fajr on time, pray sunnah too (as usual) and praise Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala) 100 times before sleeping some more.

2. To pray sunnah salah after Maghrib & full 3 rakah for witr

3. To learn the duaa (Qunut) for witr

4. Finish learning Quraish (2 arabic ayah left)

Thats it for now.... Hmm... Im wondering whether there is some sort of checklist blog on the net where I could put all this stuff.... anyone know?? Fi amenallah

Shopping

Assalamalikum sisters, yes Ive done it again. I couldnt pass up on the offer of 3 abayas for $140 from islamic boutique. So they arrived in Canada about 2 weeks ago and according to the tracking messages it was waiting at customs waiting for a signature. I couldnt understand whos signature they were waiting for cause noone had phoned me. So i phoned them up, they put me through to the place where its being kept and he told me that I had to go pick up paper work from him then go to customs to get them to release the parcel. So i went to get the paperwork then he told me once i have the release to come back to him and he would give me the parcel... Im like.. u have it here?? Man!!! So anyways, I got to customs, the guy was ok... not as scary as i thought i would find before making duaa in the car before entering the building. Now Im home and I can pick them up tomorrow insha'allah, Im working at the airport in the morning and the place is just around the corner. Insha'allah it will be open that early, if not.. Ill go on my dinner hour. Im sooo excited...

Plus... ive been for 3 interviews recently... well one was with an agency who headhunted me for a ballistics technician job... but ive worn hijab to all of them and I cant believe how strong I feel in it, like this is truly the real me. U know?? Alhamdulillah. Something must be coming across though cause they dont seem to look like they feel sorry for me, I imagined when i decided to wear it that the interviewers would be hung up about it and i realised why fulltime hijabis couldnt give 2 hoots.... cause they are confident with who they are in the scarf. I know the things I know, with and without it... so if its written I will hear back from them soon. Make duaa for me sisters, I really need to get out of the place Im in right now... not just for my sanity but especially for my deen insha'allah.

Fi amenallah

Seattle

Assalamalikum everyone,

while im sat here finishing sister Rabias stitching (send me ur address sis) Im listening to the news to hear that some walked into a jewish building (im assuming a synagogue) and killed 1 person and injured 5 over the killing in the middle east. Of course, he was of Pakistani descent, of course meaning.. of course he was muslim, subahanallah.... sayin that he was upset with what was happening in Lebanon.

So now, all jewish buildings thoughout north america are stepping up their security. Now my question... why didnt the mosques get more security when the war started in Iraq?? isnt it the same thing?? shouldnt muslims have been worried when Iraq was attacked? here jews are worried because Isreal is being attacked.. so it is really the same thing, of course it isnt seen that way.

Subhanallah.. just wanted to get that off my chest, now I have to pray Asr. Insha'allah this fighting will stop soon before it compelety destroys a country that is already near enough beyond repair. May the people there all be rewarded for what they have had to live through.
