Haiti

Ive seen many blogs up lately about the terrible devastation on the island of Haiti, my prayers are all with those taken and those who have been affected by the natural disaster. I have to say though this isnt going to be a long blog because, without a tv and no general newspapers around me I dont know too much about whats going on over there. Just that some looney 'God fearing' christian is blaming the Haitians and their devil pacts for the disaster, that hundreds of thousands of people are dead in the aftermath and all this is just terrible. Like I said my prayers are there, I am aware of the things happening in the world and I just didnt want you all to think im horribly insensitive and just want to post pictures of birds building nests.

my links

I dont know how many of you mosey on down to my links on either side of my blog but down there on the right I have a random blog list and the blog Im referring to now is here.
The topic of which is a change in the student rules that allows graduates of Cambridge to wear the burkha. Now I dont want to discuss whether or not it should be allowed.. I want to discuss that I think people should have a dictionary when using foreign words cause it confuses the heck out of me!! In this blog entry the quotations used are burkha and veil.. what exactly are they refering to? and I have read the initial article and its just as confusing!! They actually say at the end that noone has requested to wear it lol :D so why change the rules until someone asks? when people are actually asking to be allowed to wear a kilt yet that issue is still under scrutiny lol. what is wrong with these people? I worry constantly about the government's need to change things before they will be labelled racist or prejudiced.. why are you worried?? some political correctness bugs me to the max!!

Where were you when....

There is a recent advert on tv asking where you were when Obama was elected last year so I thought I would do a little blog about the things that have happened in the news.
So Im always being asked (or should be) where I was when Obama was elected, when Diana died, when the Berlin wall fell. Where were you??

When Obama was elected I was flying over the Atlantic Ocean on my way back to live in the UK, the captain came on the tannoy even though most people were alseep and announced that Barack H Obama had been elected the next American president.
When Princess Diana died I was working the morning shift in McDonalds and had walked into the staff room to greet a few people who were getting ready to start the shift at 12pm. The tv was on and someone was talking about how they couldnt believe it had happened, I asked what they were talking about and they preceeded to tell me. Of course I didnt believe them until they pointed to the tv and said 'look!' I was astonished, on the screen was the picture of the car at the edge of the tunnel and they were announcing that her and Dodi had not survived the crash
When the Berlin wall fell, well in my defence I was only 8, the first thing I remember about it was my friend from down the road showing me what her father had brought back (I dont even know why he was there) from Germany... a piece of the Berlin wall with the graffitti all over it. We werent too fussed with it, but it was cool to have a random coloured brick :D to an 8 year old it was the best ;)

So? Where were you?

Those Lidel and Aldi rumours

So the recent rumour that has been sent around by text or emails about those supermarkets giving their revenue to Israel... one of my dear friends found this on the internet. I agree we have to look out for these things and try to stay away from them to support the Palestinians in this fight for their territory but we have to stop this finger pointing and remember that Jew doesnt equal zionist supporter! Allahu alim, he is the best and final judge.

are you an adult?

Subhanallah, I just signed up for the petition to impose an arms ban on Israel. After following the link and submitting my signature I decided to check the signatures as someone had mentioned that they recognised a few signatures. While having a look through the signatures I got a little frustrated by some of the names I found on there. Dont people realise that putting stupid and non names dont make things better? (Im not too sure about forenames only, but it isnt hard to write a surname) They arent classed as signatures and only makes the community look stupid! Also, is there a point of writing Dr? what are you trying to tell us? ;) and how about Mr X? does it matter? really.... come on. Just take a look at some of these:
  • Mohammed
  • J
  • saz1292
  • am British and I want to
  • Bomb Israel
  • RuKu
I am pleased how ever to see the amount of 'muslim' (muslim sounding, I obviously cant speak that they are muslim without knowing them) names on the petition, but also the amount of non-asian sounding names on the petition masha'allah. Shows this isnt just a muslim thing.. this is a world wide thing!!! Insha'allah something will come about from it, the petition closes Jan 27th, so those of you in UK who havent signed it yet... GET SIGNING!!!

The world

Salam, I dont know how many of you await the friday links from MMW as much as I do, masha'allah, they dont always cover the stories I would choose while I wander around the virtual news rooms but alhamdulillah they bring up many issues that people would not find otherwise. May Allah reward them for their intentions and the news they bring to people. Anyways, today being friday Im just sifting through the links for this week and wanted to share a few that I opened 'in new tabs' :) Enjoy
Forced marriages in UK, what is the world coming to when this thing is still happening? why arent our girls being educated in Islam to be able to walk away from this sort of thing? Who are these parents to think they are doing whats right for the girls?
One 14-year-old girl said she was in fear of her life because she had become pregnant and thought her parents would kill her or marry her off if they found out
Subhanallah.. why is a 14 year old girl in this situation?? is that what todays culture and society are showing to our youngsters?
You want glass bangles for Eid Betu? think again before answering!
Eid mubarak my dear, now choke... subhanallah.. what gives these men the right to live while they hold disgust and hatred in their hearts for the women who have stood by them.
Has France gotten to UK? why cant we all just live how we want? I understand the need for uniformity in school wear, but to stop ppl from wearing hijab? do they seriously think that the religious communities will simply say 'ok, let our girls take off hijab, let our boys go turban-less' I think not!! And its ignorant and stupid to think they will
A mother & daughter convert in Liverpool, I had to put this in.. its my home city :D masha'allah

New Layout

yeh yeh, Ive been playing while I should be working... what you gonna do about it?? I needed a change, and I hate the fact that all the templates on blogger are so thin in the posting section.. I would rather read more horizontally than vertically but thats just me.. feel free to give me your opinions on the layout. I was looking at 3 columns, and different templates but seems every one I want to use means deleting my widgets and Im not prepared to add all my blog lists again.. just too much hassle!!! Allahu alim.
anyways, you may have noticed my 'got sadaqah?' chip in widget to the right too... please follow the struggle of this family on this blog. The amount raised is amazing masha'allah, nearly $15,000 however the chip in widget only counts the amount raised via this method.. people donating through cheques or paypal dont get added to the total... but if it means raising awareness then its worth having on the blog masha'allah

I just found this over on Mollys blog... listen to what they are shouting in the background. Hilarious!!! I pray that maybe this message gets across to the people who have the power to do something. I love how hes like 'I guess u dont believe in freedom of speech!' what has not wanting to talk to Fox tv got to do with free speech?? silly man. I also love how she points out that Fox is giving them the chance to talk but all the people are doing are shouting at him.. pff.. who cares!! Its a demonstration love! not a tv interview!!!

Sniffer dogs to wear bootees

http://news.uk.msn.com/Article.aspx?cp-documentid=8813458#toolbar
Can you believe this?? I wonder if this will cause a fuss in UK, it will make me smile if it does because this is something a non muslim thought up
The Association of Chief Police Officers came up with the suggestion to
increase respect for cultural sensitivities as it draws up new guidelines on the
use of police dogs
and also something that an imam has said isnt necessary
Leading British imam Ibrahim Mogra said making sniffer dogs cover their
feet would not be necessary. He said: "In Islamic law the dog is not regarded as
impure, only its saliva is. Most Islamic schools of law agree on that.
Before I even got down to the last part of the article I was thinking the same thing. Why are muslims constantly getting the blame for changes to laws when it is usually non muslims who change the law to not offend us, why dont they just ask us if we would be offended instead of assuming and causing more segregation within the country. Subhanallah

Starvation amongst salafis

So Im sure many of you have already heard the news about the 7 year old child who was starved to death by her parents. I just came across another blog through a link that stated in its post 'This is a tragic story, but sadly part of the madness of the salafi cult that nutures naive new muslims and newly practising muslims to hate their muslim brothers, to treat sins lightly and IGNORE responsibility' I dont really partake to any particular madhab (im still researching into that) but I know a little about each of them and I never came across the idea that in salafism you starve your children, astagfrillah... Does anyone have any more recent news about this event? here is another link and I would just like to point out a few comments in the article
'The father said: 'The children didn't seem to like wearing the Muslim head wear. I think that's why the children started having problems at the school - they weren't happy being forced into the Muslim religion' Why were they being forced to do this?? and whats muslim head gear? :) at aged 7?? surely not!! (just to point out.. the father isnt her partner)
''I think the family converted to Islam about two years ago but the children should not have been forced to wear religious clothing at school. It is a multicultural school but has a high Muslim contingent.' ' hmm.. makes you wonder doesnt it?? Sometimes I worry about being a muslim in UK.. things seem so much more open and unafraid over here, I also wonder if Canada will go the same way as the UK years down the line. Allahu alim

Do you want to be like America??

Assalamalikum, so on my way into work there was a article on the radio about how Canada is less inspired by their work. When looking at answers to some questionnaire they found that in any given week about 7% of Canadians of off work for some reason, compared with 4% of Americans. That if Canadians where more 'into' (they used a better word but I cant remember it) the each family household would be $5110 better off and the Canadian government would make more than $15million a yr so the economy would be better. Subhanallah... Im not being funny, and Im not saying this just cause im English... but who cares??? hmm?? really now?? Money isnt everything and with the extra time that the Canadians take off... ermm... family time mayb?? lol... I keep imagining how disgusted the people who compiled this piece would be if they compared America or even Canada to Europe heehee... now that would be worth listening to.

Anyways, i have the second interview for the job as ballistics technician this afternoon... 230pm so remember me in your duaas insha'allah

Fi amenallah

Seattle

Assalamalikum everyone,

while im sat here finishing sister Rabias stitching (send me ur address sis) Im listening to the news to hear that some walked into a jewish building (im assuming a synagogue) and killed 1 person and injured 5 over the killing in the middle east. Of course, he was of Pakistani descent, of course meaning.. of course he was muslim, subahanallah.... sayin that he was upset with what was happening in Lebanon.

So now, all jewish buildings thoughout north america are stepping up their security. Now my question... why didnt the mosques get more security when the war started in Iraq?? isnt it the same thing?? shouldnt muslims have been worried when Iraq was attacked? here jews are worried because Isreal is being attacked.. so it is really the same thing, of course it isnt seen that way.

Subhanallah.. just wanted to get that off my chest, now I have to pray Asr. Insha'allah this fighting will stop soon before it compelety destroys a country that is already near enough beyond repair. May the people there all be rewarded for what they have had to live through.
