Weekend work

When I started this job I was looking forward, sort of, to the hours.. 12 hour shifts I can deal with, gets them all out the way. And the week off in between was great, no weekend work.. granted I start at 0200 or thereabouts Thursday-Wednesday but still it could be worse. Anyways, this Saturday I have to be onsite for an engineer to do his work and Im not looking forward to it as I actually have very little to do workwise except some reading, finishing off a test for completing a course I went on in October.
So Ive decided to make a list of things to do non work related :) here goes...
  1. Learn the new surah Ive been talking about (Al-Qari'ah)
  2. Get a big chunk of my stitching done
  3. Start on a new book Im reading with a sisters book club via facebook
  4. Print out an ebook that Ive been emailed a link to
  5. Maybe have a little nap now and again ;)
Anything else you ladies can think of that I SHOULD be doing on a day in work with no work to do? a long day at that, maybe around 10 hours :(

Chats with mum

So I spoke with my mum last night, quite surprisingly it was over an hour and we had a good catch up alhamdulillah. I told her about hubby getting his visa, she congratulated and genuinely sounded pleased for us, she asked what difference this made to us and was pleased it would help in the future. She also put her two pennies worth in about what we HAVE to do now with our lives but thats just my mum. I mentioned that we were looking at flights now for Pakistan, I was not looking forward to mentioning this to her, she acknowledged but didnt go into detail with her questions. She doesnt want me to go, end of! I know that, but this isnt something she can dictate about.. this is my husbands family, hey.. this is my new family and I wont let her come between us. I mentioned to her that we are looking at coming over for about 3 weeks the end of next year so that give her something to talk about too, she asked what we would be doing and mentioned all these places that we 'had' to go bless her. I told her we would take a few days trip to Toronto, Niagara and of course the ski slopes that I used to frequent :) hubby wants to try snowboarding and Im all up for having someone to go with lol. She was very excited about this prospect but also upset that it means I wouldnt have seen her for 15 months (hubby pointed out to me later on that he hasnt seen his parents in about 28 months by the time we are looking at going over there) I told her I wasnt coming over to renew my health card in May because it was a waste of money and my time away from hubby if I went there. It was a nice conversation, minus her telling me things that I need to do but Allahu alim

On another note, Im getting very excited about the prospect of my walimah in Karachi :D Ive been asking hubby how things work over there, what I will wear for the henna party (oh yes Im having one!!) hopefully my cousin is looking at coming over for it too which would be amazing to have her there insha'Allah. Im looking forward to the clothes, the food but most of all the people. I asked A if his mum will cry when she meets us at the airport, he said probably.. I wonder if he will.

Well I started 12 hour shifts today, Ive got about 2 hours left and its not so bad. To be honest it isnt the 12 hours that kills me (I did my last working year in Canada on 12 hour shifts) its the 0230 start that does it. However, I work until Wednesday and then Im not working until the following Thursday, hubby is starting full time hours at the weekend (Saturday-Wednesday) which means that I will have 2 full days with him this thursday and friday which Im very much looking forward to. So far the only thing planned is a trip to Asda during the day when its quiet ;) so we are just going to relax together and go for salat ul-jummah insha'Allah.

Ok, let me try and look like Im actually working now
Peace and salams

Update

Yes, its been awhile.. I tried to blog yesterday but for some reason the computer wouldnt load the window properly. So here I am, at work reading through SOPs and periodically writing a sentence or two. I have a manual handling course with St Johns Ambulance to go to this morning, so my shift has been changed to a 6-2 I would have rather started earlier but thats ok :) Before I get into whats been happening with me, did y'all notice my blog rename?? hehee.. After coming into contact with so many gori (white) wives I thought I would incorporate that part of my life into the name of my blog as that is what I am a part of now alhamdulillah and always will be insha'Allah. My new family have welcomed me into their open arms since pretty early on in my 'relationship' with A alhamdulillah, they havent looked at the colour of my skin or the fact that I havent always been muslim. There have been tears and questions from both sides but they have always realised that he makes up his own mind masha'Allah and I was what he had made up. Insha'Allah soon I will get to meet them all and get to know them even better. Hubby is currently teaching me little phrases he thinks would be beneficial when we go over 'how are you?' 'I am fine' just little things that I keep having to go over and keep getting asked by his mum (well he keeps getting asked because I dont speak with her)
So whats been happening with us since the big day?? Well the only really interesting thing is that we got a car :) woohoo.. it was much needed with my 0230 morning starts, the £14 taxi one way was getting too much for our finances and the 75 minute bus ride home was getting too much for my mental state so alhamdulillah. We bought it on the Wednesday, picked it up on the Friday and by the Saturday it was already causing problems and had cost £130. On the Monday we took it back to where we bought it and he took it into the garage that he works with, five days and £350 less we picked up the car and alhamdulillah so far so good. It has enabled us to go shopping in Asda ;) which works out better for our pockets masha'Allah so we are very pleased little people :D We got AA cover last week and I drove to Great Missiden for a radioactivity protection course for 2 days, the scenery and the building was amazing.. the food, not so good and I was so grateful to be driving home on the tuesday evening.
Clocks have changed, I slept alot this weekend, caught up on some major stitching and baked hubby some cinnamon rolls that I know he loves :) Insha'Allah next weekend will be a major update.. of the good kind, Im not too sure but I will keep you up to date insha'Allah
Peace and salams

Work related

Yesterday at our diversity course I volunteered to help write out an access for religious areas in our hospital.. doesnt start until at least September but something to look forward to insha'allah. I was also asked if I would like to be measured up for some cuffs, so I dont have to wear long sleeved shirts under my scrubs :D yay... Ill let ya know how that goes insha'allah

23 June 2009

Today I was asked...

... a load of interesting questions from a girl Ive got friendly with at work :) Made me happy to at least try to answer her questions... but my main question of the day from a dude at work was 'excuse my ignorance but the thing you cover your head with, does it have to be any specific colours for specific days or holidays?' I told him if he didnt ask, he would never know.. no matter how silly they seemed. Then I went on to ask my friend, did you lot even think to ask Ahmed (the stalker) these questions before I came here? Her answer... we wouldnt have asked him anyways lol.. Alhamdulillah Im here then :D I also got asked if I would consider converting back for the summer so I could join in on the drinking games.. I think he read my stare and raise of the eyebrow right :)

Back

So, Im back.. life is moving forward, I have forms to fill in for the job and maybe Ill go down for a few days next week for some health test. I cant do much yet as its the bank holiday tomorrow, Im still yet to hear back about the 2 interviews I went for last week. Allah knows best what is good for me, Ive decided if I had a choice of all 3 I think the one in Ware, Herts at GSK would be the best for me. Its only 30 from London on the train, its got great potential in the company and even if they didnt extend the contract after 6 months the experience I would get from working there would be highly beneficial masha'allah. However, if I didnt get the chance to take that option the NHS job is still a good start at least for now and who knows what Allah has planned for me right. Im only just realising now the benefit of not knowing what is planned and that we can plan all we want things dont always turn out as we expect. Take my move to UK for instance, I thought I knew exactly the reason for me coming back, but as time moved on and things seemed the same, I began to question and now that my uncle has passed Im fairly sure I was brought over here for him. However, I really dont mind the reasoning for being here and Im not going to consume my time with questions and theories.
Anyways, dont want to bore anyone.. just wanted to tell you whats in my head at the moment :) Ive recently been lent the 4 'Twilight' series books and I have to tell you I love them!! I was up until about 430am reading the 1st one, Ive finished that (after starting yesterday evening) and am now into the 2nd book (new moon) I love all these fantasy books, go ahead tell me its haram, that I shouldnt be reading this, but its my life! yeh you heard me :) Ive not picked my stitching up in awhile, but insha'allah Ill do some tomorrow. My Grandad got took into hospital this morning too, they have decided to keep him in overnight for observation so insha'allah he will be back soon.
Anything else? I have a car at present, until tuesday.. not much planned really although I should. Going to see my cousin probably tomorrow, am off to meet a friend in Manchester on Friday and maybe go to Trafford Centre with her (depends if she has a car) am also looking into an Islamic retreat in the dales in a few weeks time.. Ive been to a few before while I was at uni, it would be good to catch up with some old friends insha'allah.

27 April 2009

So yes, Im elated

Ive got myself a job :) alhamdulillah, check out the link for details. It was the job I had the interview for last week... yes with all the muslim and islamic things in the area alhamdulillah. Im sooo excited, I have 2 other interviews this week (yes Im still doing them!) Who knows what could happen right? Trust me, I would rather say forget it all and just have that job, but I need to do it for my own sanity.. as u probably already know about me, I work better under pressure and I would rather have something to do. Heres a little snippet of the advertisement
"The Sterile Services team provides a vital service in reprocessing surgical instruments for operating theatres and hospital departments. You will be involved in the cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packing, sterilising and distributing of surgical equipment for supply to the wards, departments and theatres.

The successful candidate will require attention to detail, an eagerness and ability to learn combined with a lot of common sense and good reading and writing skills. In a production environment this post can be physically demanding, involving handling heavy sets of instruments and being on your feet for most of the shift."
I was told that I could get accommodation with the job which would be so helpful, and I also noticed a leaflet in the office for NHS discounts.. apparently people who work for them get all these offers and everything, I will have to look further into that.

Found out today my uncles funeral is on Thursday, please remember me in your duaa. My mum is landing on Wednesday morning and I have had to change one of my interview dates (supposed to be wed & thurs, changed to tues & wed) So thats what my week is going to be filled up with.. cant wait until its over insha'allah

19 April 2009

Its been a long time...

To the tune of Aaliyah from one of her first tunes :) please note.. this isnt how Im feeling, I just thought of the title and instantly thought of the beginning of this song.
So yeh, its been awhile.. Ive been around, not really doing much but around. Its been a quiet and boring weekend, I spent some time in the garden mowing the grass and planting a tree for my grandad. Its in the most randomess of positions and looks like a twig sticking out the grass but its where he wanted it so Ill leave that to him. I didnt really do much else yesterday, took a walk to the shops to get some fresh air.. did I tell you the weather was stunning? I wore my new skirt (the crinkle silky one from LTS, love it!) Today I did a little more although not much.. my dad came over bringing my sister, her little boy and my brother too so was good to see them :) I got to play with my nephew and was pleased to hear that he recognised me and knew my name.. it always pokes me deep when I realise that a child I should see lots of doesnt know my name, which is what it was like for Matthew when I first came back to UK. I got to chat to my bro for a bit which was nice, and when everyone was leaving it was nice to get a kiss and hug off them both :) always makes me smile to think they still see me as their 'sister' when I was never there as they grew up, which I do regret but Allah has a greater plan for me. I went over to the shops.. again (and didnt buy anything, again!) but I did take these shots on my walk over.
My football team got through to the finals of the FA cup tonight :) so maybe thats why Im feeling a little better.. although according to my punky still feeling unloved, noone wants to talk to me or give me cuddles.. well maybe not they dont want to, just noone is here to do it
Ive got an assessment next week for a job in Surrey so remember me in your duaas ladies please.. means Ill be in London for a wee while :) travelling down tuesday and leaving wednesday... flying visit I know, but has to be done.. and as I dont really have anywhere to stay I dont really want to impose on people. The girl who offered me a bed is so generous masha'allah.. its what puts my faith in the ummah back up there.. Ive met her once, dont talk to her on msn, email, blogs, phone or text... I know her through a good friend, thats the only connection but still she didnt think twice about offering me a place masha'allah.
So tomorrow I will be organising a small bag for me to take down insha'allah.. and for tonight, thats all from me :D take care peeps.. peace and salams,

Truly the most merciful

Salam girls... alhamdulillah, he truly does help you in your hour of need. So I found out a few weeks ago that I had been invited to the christening of the little boy whos mum ticked me off the other week. I didnt particularly want to go but I thought, there aint any getting out of this.. so Allahu alim, whats planned is planned.

Let me explain a little about my work hours before I carry on: so I work mondays-fridays 3pm-11pm however we have started to provide weekend coverage, this entails someone out of the 2 departments involved coming in for an 8hour shift on saturday and sunday and being on call for those two days too. With these 2 days worked you can take them off in the near future, usually ppl take them off the thursday and friday of that week because 10 days straight is a long time to work. I had intended on using them for my holidays in October as I am flying out on the wednesday, we pick the weekends we want to work and usually it works out as once in around 3 months

So... I just by chance look at the timetable to see when Im next working which I thought was in October, to find Im actually scheduled to work the weekend of the christening, the christening being on the sunday at 1030am.. so Im like, oh I cant work then.. and changed it to the following weekend. Then I went home and thought.... I dont really think of what Im doing when at work and I realised... here is my chance to have a legitimate excuse to not have to go to the christening ALHAMDULILLAH so the next day, I changed it back to that weekend and I told my mum this weekend that I was scheduled to change. She was obviously upset and apparently I was too (this is what she told the lady) so I told her I would try to sort it out.. so looks like I dont have to go to the christening after all... Thank you God

Assalamalikum girlies...

so its been a very long time since Ive written anything in here and for that I apologise. Insha'allah when my life is back to its normal pace I will be here writing again, complaining my life is boring alhamdulillah. Things have been busy, what with my family visiting, Im been catching up on some reading and im in the middle of 2 stitching orders for friends. Insha'allah they will be finished soon because Im getting a little tired of the whole concept now, I havent updated my website in a long time and I think it will be longer before I do. I realised that it was stressful with just a few things to have to finish, let alone more... I dont know how I would cope. So Im leaving it there for people to check out, and if Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) wants me to stitch more, Im sure he will guide the people to my site. Im currently reading 'Rethinking muslim women and the veil' with my friend Laylah... we are both reading it separately and commenting when we chat... and look, this link actually takes you to an e-book gutted!!! Im on chapter 5, so fairly close to the end and so far its been an interesting read masha'allah. So if you have the time, print it off or read it on the net, its worth the read.

What else have I been up to? well Im currently organising a little trip to montreal with Laylah (as per my blast) to visit Anisah. Ive known Anisah now for around 31/2yrs now and Ive never met her.. I cant even remember how we met, I think it was through an Islamic forum, we have spoke on the phone and chat over the webcam (especially to show off current islamic buys) So I think its about time we got together. Ive never really been to Montreal, passed through it on way to Quebec city so Im really looking forward to it. We are also planning to spend a day in Quebec city too insha'allah, so it will be nice to check it out again especially with different people. So we leave tomorrow insha'allah after a little shopping spree in Mississauga, I have to buy a hijab for an outfit for a friends wedding on july 8th so thats my next weekend booked too.. ho hum, the life of Ammena.. alhamdulillah

i spoke to my other half today too, hes got himself a landline in his flat so it was good to check on him and hear that he is ok alhamdulillah. Ive also just been accepted for a new position in work too, currently im QA technician but with this new position I will be QA/Range technician. Yep you got it, finally Ill be working in ballistics (the reason why I took this job in the first place) which will insha'allah help to boost my cv (resume) when im looking for a new job in UK.

Anyways, thats it for now... all the news I have.. insha'lalah when I get back Ill be posting loads of pics from montreal, so get ready girls. Fi amenallah, your sister in Islam, Ammena

My news

Assalamalikum everyone, so today I woke up early for my hospital appointment.. its been 2 months since my last one and one month since receiving my new glove. I got there just before my time and saw the glove lady, she asked to see my scar and told me it still needs pressure, and there was me thinking my doctor would tell me its fine. Although I thought he might have told me that, I didnt want it to be finished with, because I didnt think it was finished (the scar I mean) and to be honest Im really self conscious about it. My mum doesnt help from everytime I take my glove off she tells me to hurry up and get it covered Allahu alim.

Anyways, he doesnt think its ready to come out of the glove, alhamdulillah.. and he asked if I have been told about some steroid injection, well... ahem.. you are my dr, did you tell me about it?? So then he was like, do you want it? so i ask the usual needle phobic questions, how big is it? will it hurt? what does it do? is it worth doing? answers: no, a little, releases the scar matrix underneath the skin to flatten the scar, yes. So I eventually agreed, after reminding him how I was with the drip needle the nurse nearly poked through my hand when I was supposed to get the graft. So he did it... twice, it bled a little and now its covered again... he said I will definately see a big improvement next time I go back, erm... why didnt you do it sooner then?? lol.. he said he could see a big improvement and that the mobility in my web space is the image of my good hand alhamdulillah... so thats my hand news.

On another topic... I booked my flights for going home this year Insha'allah I fly October 17th and fly back to Canada November 4th... so just over 2 weeks.. which gives me 2 and a bit weekends which is good.. insha'allah Ill get to see at least 1 match. Im also planning a few days in Morocco to visit a friend from uni and days down south. Insha'allah apart from this i wont be doing as much travelling as last time. I want to spend some time with my grandparents insha'allah.

Also, I found out yesterday that Ive been accepted for a new position in work. It basically what I do now, but in addition I will be working on the ballistics range too and its 12 hours shifts.. I only end up working 15 days out of a month, including 2 weekends.. but its more money and its what I want to do. It wont be for ages yet.. I was worried it would mess up my montreal plans, but he reckons a few months as I have to train someone to take over my afternoon shift.. oh yeh, cause I will be working 7am till 7pm...

Ok, thats it for now... sorry ive been soo quiet, just trying to catch up on things now my family have left canada. Insha'allah Ill have more to write soon. Tomorrow Im meeting a facebook friend at jummah in my masjid, so looking forward to that, oh and Im also going for my 2nd treatment of laser to my legs cant wait till thats all over and im hair free (well sort of) Take care peeps... Fi amenallah

7 April 2007

my weekend

Assalamalikum girls... so whats been going on?? Well I received my mp3 player and I love it, its a little scratched on the front but nothing too major and still useable alhamdulillah. So Ive downloaded some lectures onto it, was a bit gutted cause you have to have the files saved through windows player and some of my bits are real player so it wont let me transfer them :( I had a good little piece on how to pray istikharah which i cant transfer so was a little bummed. Insha'allah Laylah is gonna point me in the direction of a few sites.. then I can get the quran downloaded, I also want to know how to organise it all just so its easier to sort through, you know Lectures, Nasheeds, Quran, Duaa then I will know where to find everything, but I dunno if you can do that, insha'allah. I had to pay extra duty for it coming into the country, another $22cdn but i paid with my uk account for the actual player so its all good. Got paid on thursday so transfered some money into my savings account to take back home with me to pay off some of my loan.

Had hospital appointment on thursday, took me about 90mins to get there with the traffic and the snow!! so when i eventually got there, the shutters were all down and i started panicing. Yep.. he wasnt there!! In the OR apparently, but then we found out he wasnt and he came down to check me out... seen him for about 5 mins i think He gave me a prescription for some silica jelly stuff that i cut into strips to apply to the thicker area of the scar, apparently its supposed to decrease the thickness, which I can actually say Ive noticed a difference in these past few days. Anyways, I have to book an appointment for the beginning of june, then he said that we can say from then I dont have to wear that horrible glove, alhamdulillah. I just hope my scar is less sensitive by then, insha'allah, otherwise it will be arkward

I found out on tuesday that the plant where I work are moving onto continental shifts, so 12 hour shifts... 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, thats 3 on, 2 off, then 2 on, 3 off... it works out u working just 15days a month and working 2 weekends. My department hasnt decided what they are doing, theres only 5 ppl in the department but i think we are going to have to do it too.. so Im on the hunt for a new job which sucks really... Allahu alim.

Yesterday was a stat holiday for good friday... I went to jummah with a friend which was cool, then we went to the pictures in the evening to watch 300.. im still not too sure about but was ok, was fun... 4 hijabis watching a film hehe. So today I went to have my legs lasered... and u know what? It never hurt!! At all, the strength she was using she says she doesnt really use it until the 5th session on most people... so Im hoping that means I dont need too many cause I cant really afford another $325 for my legs... with my underarms, I have a few long hairs now... but thats it, so im hoping that means 1 more too insha'allah.

Anyways, thats my news really... spoke to my hanouni today :D hes gone home to Algeria for 10 days, back in UK next weekend, so was good to hear his voice, alhamdulilah he is fine. I also heard yesterday that my friends fiancee has his visa through, so insha'allah they should be having their nikah at the end of the month which is sooo exciting :D and also, as u prob all know.. Anisah has all her paperwork sorted, insha'allah everyone will be together with their partners soon (including me)

Well, Im off now.. going to look at some furniture in another city on the way to my mums... insha'allah I will hear from you all soon. Oh and Ive taken my blog off public... its been nerving me, all these people maybe reading my blog, but noone is replying.. so I made it private again, Allahu alim.

8 March 2007

Tomorrow

Assalamalikum everyone,

so tomorrow is friday, and we all know what that means, JUMMAH.. insha'allah. Im soo excited now that I know where everyone will be and that I wont be on my own for the time I spend there. Ive decided Ill leave my house 1230pm, pray the 2 rakahs for entering the masjid, then sit around.. I might take a new duaa to read or an islamic book with me. Ill pray sunnah 4 rakahs after the adhan and then Ill pray in congregation with my sisters asking for forgiveness from my creator insha'allah. I cant wait. Sis OM.. get ur bum up here, I wanna take u!!!

So yesterday I got told by my shift supervisor, during an interesting conversation about headlice, that I was lucky and didnt have to worry cause I wear the burkah.. I was confused cause i walked into the conversation and after he repeated and explained i didnt have the heart to explain to him. Allahu alim. Just shocked I guess... and pleasantly surprised.

Well i have nearly 2 hrs of work left, and i havent really done much apart from learn things, which is nice... alhamdulillah. So im off now... chat soon. Fi amenallah

25 February 2007

Assalamalikum everyone,
so what have I been up to this week?? not much really... I started my permanent shift, 3-11pm.. so far so good, its nice to have all the time to do things during the day when theres light and people. I generally get up around 9ish and leave for work abotu 230pm then go to bed around 12ish, well depending on whos online and wants to keep me awake you all know who you are!! I was supposed to meet Laylah this week and, well it wasnt meant to be.. Allahu alim, insha'allah another time, although with all the snow coming down now i have nooo idea.. hence the pic. I tried to take a pic of the snow, its late and dark now, so i cant take it from inside, i have to open a window.... and well... u can see what happened.. im just taking a pic of the snow its falling that hard.
I went out for a hot choc today with a friend from a friend where i used to live. Masha'allah shes really nice and lives just down the road from me, insha'allah we will get to be good friends.. and she has such an adorable son masha'allah he was just chatting away lol, bless him.
Then i went for a tour of the city im living in, went for a drive to the shopping centre to try to figure out whats actually there in case i need it. Saw a few hijabis masha'allah, then went to buy some fabric.. i really need to learn to use this sewing machine i have, and in the store i turned around and there is a niqabi being greeted by a non-muslim by her first name.. she wandered through the shop saying hi to everyone, i couldnt believe it, so outspoken masha'allah. I asked about sewing classes... no community ones im afraid, so maybe ill just force myself

Well thats it for me... back to the stitching board oh i crack myself up

9 February 2007

Now, this morning

Assalamalikum, so I set my alarm for fajr this morning, and kept putting it on snooze. Eventually I woke up (now) and realised I had pressed snooze to often and it was nearly now time for work. So i made my wudu and came into my room (prayer/office room) and noticed how dark it was still outside and i thought well fajr is earlier and earlier now, maybe the sun is later but Im too tired to actually think about it. So i sat at my computer, which is getting to be a bad habit for me, before I prayed, and looked at the clock its not nearly the hour i should leave, its nearly the hour i should wake up properly ie7am. so now my tv is on... im awake and its ok

My mums friend is flying in from the UK tonight, so im supposed to go up for the weekend, its going to be a hard weekend. They want to go to Niagara Falls... so my prayers are going to be all over the place. Insha'allah it will be ok.

Anyways... time for fajr!!

My life

Assalamalikum girls...

so the muslim guy, Dawood has been really nice when i see him and the other day he asked if I was going to some curling event work has organised this weekend. I told him I couldnt for reasons of college and the fact that Im not yet living in Cambridge, he was fine with that and told me he has told all his family about me and they wanted to meet me, masha'allah.

There has been a guy at work installing some new equipment and hes from Wales originally so was nice to hear a good accent and to speak without being asked to repeat myself a few times. It was funny we were just chatting about home, he asked if i was over here on my own then just said, so youre muslim then, I was like yeh! What else could i say, thinking back i should have said something like.. oh what gives it away cause it was pretty silent for a bit after that, but then we picked up the pace again

I went to the hospital yesterday for a checkup, the deep burn on the top isnt getting better he said, so i have to start covering it with polysporin and covering the burn. He put some on yesterday and when i took it off in the evening to make wudu subhanallah i couldnt believe it, the burn area had rapidly reduced from like 7 hours ago. I can feel it getting tighter now, so gonna have to really start the exercises. He also told me i couldnt wear this pressure glove until the area had completely covered over but the way that its healing i think that should be soon insha'allah. It was soo painful to get the glove on yesterday for sizing because the wound was still open and the glove is so tight. I have to wear it gradually at first and work up to 23 hours a day, she told me each glove last for about 3 months and they gave me 2 for alternation. But if it reduces and flattens any scarring im there, loading with duaa too obviously

Last bit of news, I was accepted for the apartment. I phoned her yesterday to see if she had heard anything so she casually said, oh u were approved. I was like, and u were going to tell me.... when??? But oh well, I have it and thats the important thing. Now i just have to start getting my stuff ready, got some boxes yesterday and started packing up my islamic books to store at a friends until after the move. Have to phone around a few places today to get my address then change a few things, car insurance, doctors appointment, blah blah. But its slowly moving alhamdulillah.... and tomorrow Im going for a little meal with some sisters and a video after insha'allah. So looks like its gonna be a busy weekend, I cant wait to move over there then i can have a relaxing weekend cause i havent had one of those in awhile.

Ok, now time for fajr and for getting ready for another work day, alhamdulillah. Take care girls, and keep in touch. Fi amenallah

The frustration

Assalamalikum, so i just wanna vent about my day.. well 10 minutes of my day. So I went to the masjid Ive been praying at all week today for Dhuhr, when I got there it was locked, which i was expecting so I waited around for abit. Some dude came up to me and asked me what i was doing there, when i told him i was there to pray he asked me where to which i told him downstairs in the big room. He told me i couldnt pray there, there werent facilities for women. Now come on... facilities??? what do we need thats so different than men?? Do we need a slide? astagfrillah sorry, then he told me i should go home to pray, to which i told him (now he was getting to me at this point) i didnt live around there. So I waited around and in the end another guy drove in and walked straight to me, I felt like he was some sort of bouncer or something. So he salamed me, which was nice, then told me i couldnt pray here... after repeatedly asking him why he told me the mosque committee had decided to do this, I asked him if there was a woman on this 'committee' he laughed and started to tell me about the other mosque. Subhanallah... i nearly felt like crying. So i asked how far this was away.. he told me about 5mins, bare in mind i work only 4 mins from this masjid so this would mean nearly 10 mins away from work, which i told him and he just blankly looked at me.

So in the end i left for the other masjid... subhanallah, i was glad i did go, its massive and is connected to a school. Theres a nice womens section, cant see the other side cause its another room, but its clean with wudu area masha'allah and a nice big window. So i prayed then went to look around a little, didnt see much but insha'allah ill go back when im moved over there. I decided that when im moved i either finally ask if I can use a room, Im gonna ask Dawood where he prays when he has to, see if he prays at work, or just drive home cause its alot closer than the masjid. Then visit the masjid at weekends, or when i need something more, Im hoping insha'allah that they have some sort of classes there too.

What else did i do?? I went to my apartment to measure up for blinds and stuff, its been painted and looks sooo different, I got to check out my room more and was told theres actually 2 guys who live in the building that work at my place too. So im looking forward to getting everything in and finally making it mine insha'allah. Subhanallah i got some funny comments at work today: so what is your nationality? your english? and your parents? will u eat my food? i dont know what u can eat. It was funny.. and very good dawah alhamdulillah. Insha'allah I will be able to spread the word of Islam to some of my workers.

My hand is healing alhamdulillah, more and more everytime i look at it subhanallah. Truly amazing!! anyways, I have homework to do, which i havent so think ill rest now and get up early tomorrow. Keep in touch girls. Fi amenallah

Scary

Assalamalikum, so heres what happened to me today. I had a 'Mission and Values' meeting with a few other new employees at work... So we were all there talking about this stuff, for 1 and a half hours..... 1.5hrs.. subhanallah, I couldnt believe it, but we finished at 435pm so only 25mins left then i could go home. Then after the meeting one of the guys comes walking towards me like he was gonna talk to me, for some reason I start freaking out, I think Ive become quite antisocial since Ive come over here. So it goes, hi, so i was wondering why you are wearing this... i thought, oh here we go, I was waiting for the 'youre in the west' .... so I told him, I am muslim, to which he proceeds to tell me that he is too, his name is dawood masha'allah, been in Canada 31 yrs, originally from Egypt and he was just a little confused at my non muslim name (when he had introduced himself as David) so I told him i was a new muslim. Then he told me, may Allah (swt) reward him for his intention, that if i needed any help, with food, transport, company to let him know and he would help me as best he could. I couldnt believe it, he chocked me up. Then he told me there are 3 other muslim guys at my work, Aiyub, Mohammed and Khalid, I know you dont need to know names but its in the story.

Now Im still waiting to hear back from the landlords about whether ive been accepted for the apartment. Im a little nervous cause i havent heard back from them, insha'allah it isnt a bad thing. Remember me in ur duaa girls, its the final piece to the puzzle

Subhanallah

Assalamalikum girls, insha'allah all is well with everyone. So i started my new job today, at last alhamdulillah and it went well.... long, but well. Totally different to what im used to, which is going to be good experience. I was a little nervous about working the midnight shift, but Allahu alim... today at the end of the day, one of the guys who i had been following was talking to a girl about how hard hes finding it to find a good babysitter during the day. So he talks to my boss and asks him if it would be ok for him to change shifts with me when im fully trained, subhanallah... i couldnt believe it!! Alhamdulillah!! So insha'allah i will be moving to a 7am-3pm shift after i finished my 8am-5pm training shedule. Im so excited. Tonight I applied for my apartment, $680 for a 2 bedroomed apartment, alot different than $560 one room & bathroom Im paying out now. And insha'allah my car insurance is gonna go down by around $200, which will pay the difference for my apartment, plus im getting paid a little bit extra. Subhanallah... things seem to be going well, alhamdulillah... just need to get the h2b over now

Bad day!!

Assalamalikum girls, so i had a rough day from start to finish really. I didnt sleep last night, i had a dream about me & my mum being held hostage at my grandparents house in UK. It was weird and i couldnt really sleep after it, well ended up wakin up at 650am and was late to get out of the house for my ride (i was going to work cause it was easier to get a taxi from there than my house) eventually get to work, after everyone asks how i am i eventually get offered a lift to the hospital from a friend who is on MAT leave but her & her hubbie are moving away. So we get to my appointment, and the dr tells me he can 'fix' my hand... after not really understanding he started talking about skin grafts from my leg, well that was when i freaked and didnt really hear much. What i did hear that i didnt want to was that i cant start work on monday we finally decided to have me go in on tuesday for a checkup, its the top of my hand he is concerned about. He says if it heals over 90% by tuesday they will leave it, if not they will look at doin the skin draft on wednesday, keep me in overnight and see how it goes. He said usually they leave it 2wks and then allow them to go back to work on light duties, which was stressing me out no end.

so i get back to work, they tell me they wont pay for parking cause officially i left yesterday. How bad is that?? really peeved me off. So we go out for dinner which was really nice, and everyone paid for our meals too which was not expected. Then we went back to work, cause i got the lift in the morning, so i was waiting for her in the afternoon too.

Fast forward.... Im home, I have a little rest, well try cause i get phoned twice in the process. Then the lady who owns the house where I live starts shouting my name 'i have many parcels for you' heehee which was exciting. In the end I ended up with 6 new hijabs, a little book & matching photoframe, a copy of Iqra newspaper and a little handbag. Masha'allah I was soo pleased, I showed Anisah my hijabs and she says they all suit me so well alhamdulillah. So now insha'allah i will email a sister, and tomorrow talk to another to say thanks for thinking of me and may Allah (swt) reward them for their thoughts and intentions.

So Ive just watched Ghost whisperer then I phoned my mum... BIG MISTAKE!!! Subhanallah... as soon as she picked up the phone i could tell she was going to say something to annoy me. So she starts off by askin if i gave the girl who gave me a lift anything for petrol or parking, i tell her i paid half parking but didnt think about the petrol.. so she goes off on one calling me selfish and tight with my money. I dont generally carry money around with me, so i dont see it in my purse, so i never really think about it. She says i should realise im not a student anymore and should start thinking about things like this, so when i answer her next question with a short reply its all about her, 'so u dont answer cause i moaned at u' no.. i answered because thats the reply.. she goes, ok fine, if u dont want to talk to me hang up... now could u imagine the reply if i did do that?? she carries on complaining about other things.. namely not wanting to drive in the winter..... so in the end i just tell her im going to get ready for college... its too much for me sometimes, may Allah (swt) give me the sabr to cope with my mum. She just made me feel so crap, especially after not the best day, i finally feel like things are looking up then it goes back down again. Its sucks!!!

Anyways, sorry for going on. Im going to bed now. Fi amenallah
