The weekend so far

I'm working! Enough said ;) was nice to wake up to hubbys face this morning though and not just my alarm. Although my alarm was going off and I didn't realise what it was. Hubby said to me 'the adhan alarm doesn't work!' I blushed and told him it did and maybe it was a good idea to move it to his side of the bed.
Currently in talks with a guy from the hospital about an ikea bed he's trying to get rid of. Will see by the end of the day what he thinks of my bartaring ;) I'm really not that good
Yesterday was the start of hubbys weekend so we went looking in the local supermarket for something to do. I feel sorry for him because he's spending most of the weekend on his own. But then I'm working, I know I'd rather be on my own lol.
On Friday were leaving for a long weekend in Liverpool insha'Allah. Hubby will get to meet my grandad, see my cousin who he feels so comfortable around. We will pop in to see my dad too insha'Allah and I want to take him to see Liverpool properly. Check out the Beatles (as a side note, my iphone is anti scouser, spellcheck just gave me beagles) story, see the albert docks more, maybe show him the city centre more. Might even take him to the everton ground, we are playing on Sunday so Saturday should be fairly quiet if he wants to. So much to do and I'm looking forward to it alhamdulillah.
I'm working in an area today that is very quiet due to the reduced numbers of staff working around the hospital. It's also out of the main area, so I'm pretty much on my own. Which is how I'm getting to write this blog (maybe expect more later on) and dig into a book I've been meaning to finish for quiet some time now.
I got to chat with Mina yesterday (app doesn't let me add links, but I'm sure u all know her blog by now) it's good to hear her happy and settled. However, I still want her back and can't wait to catch up with her in the summer insha'Allah.
Ok peeps, that's enough from me for now. I'll let u know how my bidding war goes cause the chair would go really well in our living room.
Peace and salams

My day

So today there is a few things to report. I took full advantage of eBay free listing last week and put up a few DVDs and books that are hanging around. Looks like things are finally moving and I have a bid on all five things I'm selling alhamdulillah.
I'm on my way to work for the second day of my nine day stint with working this full weekend too. I asked to work a full weekend so I can now have three full weekends to myself (and hubby of course) it comes with disadvantages (did I mention nine days straight?) However today I get the next four week schedule and I get paid today :) woohoo. Student loan will take some money out over the weekend, will be getting my statement soon insha'Allah so I can see how much I owe them still.
Have to pick up a parcel tonight, I got a present for hubby and I think it's that. The only problem is, the name I have associated to the account hence the name on the parcel..... Well I don't have any ID in that name so I'm praying I can still pick it up insha'Allah. Ok, nearly at work now so I'm gonna sign off here.
Peace and salams

Adult things

As some of you may know I dont like doing known 'adult' things much but this week I have been very adult like ;) I picked up my converted DVDs the other day from video.. tres old ;) but was good to see, hubby even mentioned that he would like to try sky diving one day after the snowboarding.. but it was stated that my 2 feet would be firmly grounded :( hes such a spoil sport ;)
Anyways, we also bought a new bed frame.. the one that was in the flat basically wasnt included in the flat.. it was left by the previous tenant for obvious reasons. It was falling apart! we have kept it together for these past 3 months (how time has flown by) but it was time and I think he also wanted to have a sturdy piece of furniture we could call our own. We bought it will some of the wedding money (tried to pay it all with it, but something went wrong with the visa gift card we had) so thanks to the lady involved alhamdulillah.
Today we went to check out the car boot sale at a school near where I used to live.. we also popped into the city centre and got ourselves a new shower curtain (wasnt shopping for it but it was on offer and we both liked it)
I just put up a new frame in the living room (check out FB if youre on my friends list) and I think it looks really well in the space.. Im loving how the flat is turning out, I would like a little more space but alhamdulillah its fine for us :D
Just wanted to check in with you all :) Back to Bones now :)
Peace and salams

Another restoration in humanity

I forgot to tell you all about this, when I got off the plane at Gatwick I was rushing to get my stuff so I could get to my man quicker. Coming up the escalators the older woman in front of me, who was actually sat behind me on the plane, turned to me and said 'i just love how you wear your scarf, it's so pretty and looks so elegant on you' I think I went bright red but I smiled and said thank you to here. Masha'Allah she was so nice.
After my recent problems I jut wanted to have this down to remind myself aswell as you all. Alhamdulillah

Coconut biscuit recipe

I have previously given this out to a sister but it was on facebook and not as public so here goes.
Recipe makes about 16 biscuits
Oven 180 degrees celcius
100g shredded/ dessicated coconut
100g plain flour
100g oats
75g unsalted butter
100g caster sugar
2tsp bicarbonate of soda
1tbsp golden syrup
2tbsp hot water

Mix flour, sugar, oats and coconut in bowl. Melt cubed butter and syrup in a pan, when melted in separate vessel mix bicarbonate and hot water together. Then add to butter, mixture should fizz in pan. Add melted mixture to bowl of other ingredients and mix well. Making small balls of the mixture with your hands, place on lined baking trays and cook on top shelf for about ten minutes. Not usually that long so keep an eye on them until golden brown

Enjoy and I look forward to pictures and your opinions of the recipe. Hubby doesn't want me to change anything, but would u add any other ingredients? Fill me in
Fi amenallah

Something brought me down, but then faith was restored alhamdulillah

Here it goes.
On Sunday hubbyA and I went to look for the farmers Market near our flat. It started to rain a little and even using google maps got a little lost (I rely too much on it cause seems hubby knew the way all along) anyways, I said I would ask the next person for directions and that's what I did. A man was walking towards us with his shopping, I wasn't going to keep him for long so decided it would be ok to ask. We got about a foot apart from each other and I said 'excuse me,' he didn't heat me but then he got closer like right next to me so I said it again he kept his head up and his eyes straight ahead and carried on walking. Yes folks, he ignored me! And it really upset me :( I kept going over the scene in my head, "you think he didn't hear me?" I asked hubbyA. "Do you think he ddint hear you?" was his rely, which was true. I just wanted to give him an excuse for not answering me. I don't like to think that people can do this, alas my faith in my community was shaken :(

Until last night alhamdulillah. A man stopped and asked me for directions to the shopping centre near mine. There were other people he could have asked, but he asked me and couldn't stop thanking me for my help.

My faith isn't fully restored, it's still slightly cracked but it's not wide open, angry and as susceptible anymore. And, of course, I have hubbyA too. Alhamdulillah.
Peace and salams

Love day

No, I don't celebrate this hallmark holiday but hubby used it as an excuse to buy me a card that says something on the front that he always tells me, take an unopened rose from a bouquet he had bought me last week and wake me up at 9am telling me it was 11am so I would see this all strategically placed around the clock when I questionned his time keeping.
We checked out the local farmers market that wasn't really much but a few nice crafts shops there where I saw some things for future purchases. We went to Wimbledon mosque for asr, after meaning to go find it since before I went on holiday. Now we know where it is and how far it takes to get there. There's a big womans area but I was disappointed to see no real noticeboards with lecture notices. The leaflets pinned to walls were months out of date. Also would take two buses or a 25 minute walk, but will be welcomed during Ramadhan insha'Allah.
I spoke to my mum in the evening, told her A has moved into my flat (1 more step for me heehee), spoke with my cousin too and then got all dressed up in half an outfit ami sent over for me and hubby took me out for dinner at a nice Lebanese restaurant down the road from us. It was yummy, we got home around nine then opened a small tub of dulce du leche haagen-Danz ice cream and it was yummy!!!!
Decided to go buy a solid bed frame this week from a place we saw on walk home from Market insha'Allah with some of the money we received as wedding gifts. So looking forward to that.
Anyways, insha'Allah some photos to follow tonight. Writing just gives me something to do on the bus to work ;)
Peace and salams

Quel est la différence ?

There are 2 duaa Im talking about.. the duaa for starting a journey and the duaa for leaving the house. Surely if youre leaving the house youre starting a journey?? Or is there different kinds of journies? like it actually means travelling a certain distance from your house. Or would it be proper to recite the duaa of leaving the house upon leaving... then the duaa for starting a journey when you're outside? Just something that came to mind the other day.. thanks for listening to my ramblings ;)
Back to work today :( until 8pm.. not looking forward to it, especially with no texts to me name, blah!!

Update

my flight was supposed to leave at 1730 tonight, I should be getting ready for my mum to be home... instead Im wondering what Im going to do tonight and what time Ill go to bed because now my flight leaves at 0800 which means the desk opening at 0400 :( sucks really!! not impressed with Thomas Cook this holiday :(

Am I boring??

so its just been pointed out to me that in my last 3 blogs someone has ticked the boring box.. Im not bothered if people find me boring because well this is my life and I write on here to just get things off my chest or to share with those true friends what is happening in my life. I would just like to know why this person or these people find it boring.. so, step forward :) enlighten me ;) I love forward to hearing from you

Tomorrow, tomorrow...

.. Im flying out tomorrow, still not sure if my mum is parking up and coming in or just dropping me off. Suitcase is HEAVY, that I know I just dont know how much.. going to weigh it tomorrow and go through my bits to try to level things out insha'Allah. Cant wait to see hubby when he picks me up at the airport, I spoke with him a few times today which was nice alhamdulillah.. although I would rather speak to him face to face but it was good to hear him smile :) as cheesy as that sounds.
Well, its late and im very tired.. just wanted to let you all know where I am. Had great fun with Ms eyeS and Melissa the other day alhamdulillah and old friends from work. Always good to catch up masha'Allah

Peace and salams,

1 February 2010

so far

Its been awhile since I last wrote but I thought seeing as I have some time to kill here at my friends before I leave for the day that I would write a lil blog :) So Im over half way into my holiday here, I leave in 4.5 days.. went shopping for a suitcase yesterday because I cant use the one I got back! There are none that I can find in the size I originally had and wonder what Im going to do with a 28" suitcase rather than a 31" theres a major difference in the dimensions as I saw yesterday... have to discuss with the parental unit.
As for what Ive been up to... well yesterday I chilled with Ms eyeS and in the morning with my college buddy Melissa... I had great fun with both of them :) masha'Allah and I saw how easily I slipped back into the relationship with them both which was great alhamdulillah. They both talked about coming over to England so insha'Allah I will see them at some point soon.
Yes, Im still totally missing hubbyA but alhamdulillah we are able to text, we email every day back and forth and have been talking on msn as much as possible too alhamdulillah. We get a phone line installed at the flat tomorrow insha'Allah so i will at least be able to talk to him too, which is good cause I havent heard his voice since I made a very expensive phone call to him last Monday :) being apart sucks and I dont plan on doing this ever again insha'Allah
Anyways.. thats it for now, today Im popping into my old work place, picking up some cross stitching thread from my favourite craft store in the whole world (Michael's). Then heading over to Chicopee for some boarding and thinking of even a lesson too insha'Allah, then Im out to Zen gardens with some friends tonight insha'Allah. Tomorrow Im meeting another friend at Marios for lunch before heading home and to another few hours of boarding.. so watch this space :D I will put up some videos of my boarding when I get home insha'Allah.
